So California isn't all about the fame, money, and girls. Jesse is saying that California isn't perfect for happiness or even perfect at all. That we just see it that way because we disguise with our mind or eyes. We judge people and think what they be like, but in reality they are nothing like that. He saying that we only see the "perfect" side of California. There is another meaning when he says "If the sun was God, I'd be covered in faith.If the ocean was the devil, I'd be covered in hate." This means he done things that shouldn't been done. That he should go to hell or even worship the devil because of his wrongfulness. I really respect the way he has word this, but if you think about it. He says that people in California should be covered in hate. Why? because he says if the ocean was the devil and mostly people who live in Cali go to the ocean and swim, but then again he's only referencing himself. So tell me what you think of this song.
