Danny scoffed and began walking away. "Well I don't wanna have a talk with you, Vladdy." She threw her hands up for emphasis. Before she could push the door, the Mayor had grabbed her arm and pulled her back. He drew her close and clamped her mouth before she could verbally protest. "I need you to come with me." And with that, he morphed into Plasmius, went intangible and flew out of the school, dragging a very unhappy teenager behind him.
He did not take her all the way back to his mansion, much to Danny's delight. She always felt queasy in there. Instead, he took her to the other side of the road, across the football oval and behind some thick bush. Vlad dropped her down as he landed. Danny quickly got up and morphed herself, growling. Vlad put his hands up, his face calm-ish.
"No need for that, niece." Danny's frown deepened. "Look I'm not here to fight you." But his pupil-less fiery red eyes said anything but that.
"Better for Danny Phantom to be seen talking to you rather than Fenton," Danny remarked. Vlad shrugged in agreement. There was a moment of silence. "If you're not here to fight then what are you here for?"
"Have you been feeling...off lately, Danielle?" Danny relaxed her position and dropped her fists by her sides. She nodded. Vlad continued. "Do you know what it means?" She squinted her eyes but shook her head. Always one step ahead of me, aren't ya Vlad? It was a silent thought. Vlad looked unimpressed. "Ugh, hasn't that stupid bear learned how to teach properly yet?"
"You've been spying on me!" She resumed her guarded stance.
"No, you stupid girl. But earlier you said you've awoken the Phantom and how would you have known how to do that without the old buffoon?" He rolled his eyes. "What do you know?"
She kept her guard up, her muscles ready to attack if so much as a ligament twitched in Vlad. "Why would I tell you, huh? That'll only give you an advantage - whether I'm far into the lessons or have only just begun."
"But you said you don't know what that 'off' feeling between us means yet, so that tells me that you're not too far into the teachings." Danny grunted and exhaled through her nose. "And also you revealed your telepathy to me, not a smart move." Vlad smugly smirked, revealing his awful demon fangs and widening his hollow scarlet eyes. His hair in this state was in its usual greased position, designed to look like little horns. His red cape dangled limply behind him, and his blue skin looked almost translucent in the sunlight. Meanwhile, Danny's white hair shone brilliantly, and the ethereal glow that stuck to her made her skin look slightly more tanned than it already was. Her black and white jumpsuit hugged her figure while her sickly green eyes glared at her enemy. Danny could sense through her mind that Vlad was very confused about her unheard of ability. He was waiting for a reply.
She stormed up to him and pointed a finger from underneath his chin. "Look, all I know is that you're planning something, Plasmius. I can sense it inside you. I know that you've created a new portal and are letting the ghosts fly in and out as they wish, thus keeping me up all night to put 'em back. And you know exactly how that turned out for me last time. Well, tough luck, mate, I've learned how to handle it. And I know that that 'off' feeling I've been feeling means that you and I are gonna battle it out very soon, so you better br prepared." Dang it. Why'd I give him advice? She didn't let her annoyance show. Her ears pricked up when she heard the school bell chime from across the park. She turned to leave but gave one more piece of advice to him. "On Sunday, you better be on your best behavior, because for my lack of sleep, I sure won't be!" With that she changed back into Fenton and stomped across the park.
It was just the end of recess, and while Danny fumbled through her bag for her apple, she caught up with her friends who were walking to D Block, aka, English. She walked by their side and chomped harshly into the apple. Sam looked to her and smirked. He knew that look on her face. "What did the fruit loop want?" Danny sighed and leant back dramatically. She was starting to regret that fleeting moment of sassiness in the office between her and Vlad.
