The Old Manor House

Avery and the boys continued walking down the road until the sun began to set, creating a beautiful twilight sky above the trees that began to line the old dirt road. Avery turned to Kris as they approached a small patch of clearing on the side of the road,
"Do you want to stop or do you think we can make it home?"
The alpha male wolf cracked a smile when she referred to the mansions as "home". He looked down the road and shook his head,
"I think we can make it home. At least, if we run."
"Run?"
Avery questioned. Kris nodded,
"Yes but you don't have the same speed as we do so someone will have to carry you."
Avery nodded in understanding as Kai suddenly appeared in front of her, giving her a mischievous smirk before speaking,
"Not a problem."
He used his vampiric speed to pick Avery up in his arms as he raced off, causing the others to chase after him in anger. Kai laughed as he went faster,
"Hold on tight."
Avery obeyed, securing her arms around his neck before a puff of black smoke surrounded them. She felt slightly sick but that subsided quickly as she noticed Kai had slowed down. When he stopped he kissed the top of her head lightly,
"We're here."
He set her down as she looked at the EXO-K mansion. Kai walked towards the mansion while Avery remained still,
Something's not right...
She thought as Kai turned around,
"Are you coming, Av?"
She nodded before glancing behind her,
"How long do you think it'll take the guys to get here?"
Kai shrugged,
"Hour and a half to two hours. If they're running, that is. Why?"
Avery glanced at the house before responding,
"No reason. Maybe we should wait for them. Something seems... off don't you think?"
Kai turned and looked at the mansion,
"Seems fine to me. Don't worry I'll protect you if the guys start fighting again or try and feed on you or something."
Avery smiled with little relief as Kai approached the front door. He hesitated when he saw the door cracked open slightly. Kai turned around and looked at Avery,
"Stay close to me."
He said quietly, moving her closer to him as he pushed the door open
CREEEEEEEAK
The old dark oak door creaked open at the push. Once both Kai and Avery were inside, they heard a strange straining sound behind them. Avery turned and gasped when she saw the door swing closed, vines growing wildly and rapidly around it, locking them in. Avery and Kai looked at each other warily as he put his arm around her shoulders as they moved further in. Avery looked at the walls and saw that the wood was horribly rotten while the floor had been overtaken with vines and roots,
"It looks like the mansion has been abandoned for decades. We were just here a week ago..."
Avery trailed off in confusion as she approached the couch,
"Even the couch cushions look faded from time."
She observed as they stood a safe distance from the piece of furniture. After they looked around the main room they made their way into the kitchen. Avery looked at the various pots, pans, and perishables, before commenting her observation to Kai,
"The pots and pans are rusted. And the food is completely rotted. The apples, the bananas, everything. How could this have happened?"
Kai looked around the kitchen in confusion,
"I'm not sure. But look, nothing looks like it's out of place in here. Nothing looked out of place in the other room either. There aren't any signs of a struggle. This is... odd."
Avery and Kai exited the kitchen and made their way towards the staircase. The deep red carpeting looked worn and had been torn in some places, showing the rotted wood underneath that looked like it could give way at any moment. Avery leaned closer to Kai, while still keeping her eyes on the stairs, when she asked,
"So... who's going first?"
"Uh, ladies first."
"Oh no after you, I insist."
"No, no, after you."
Avery sighed before putting her left arm around Kai's waist, pulling him close to her before responding,
"Then we go together."
Kai nodded, using his other arm to pull Avery closer to him as the ascended the stairs to the second floor, where the bedrooms were.
