Avery blinked her eyes open slowly as she took in her surroundings. She put together that she was still underground in the tunnel system under the mansion, but that she was not in the same place where she collapsed. She saw candles burning on the floor along with twelve distinct markings that were spaced far apart on the hardened ground,

Those were in Isabel's home. A Mystic Circle. Why are they here, as well?

Avery thought to herself, unable to shake the feeling that she's being watched, as she slowly stood up. She walked over to the markings on the floor to examine them more closely. She ran her fingers over the marking closest to her,

"A scorpion."

She whispered to herself before turning to the one next to it,

"Dragon."

"Snowflake."

"Unicorn."

"Hourglass."

Avery traced her fingers along the sixth symbol,

"I think I saw this one tattooed on Luhan. If I remember correctly, this is the symbol for telekinesis."

Avery went to the other half of the large Mystic Circle the markings made and looked at them,

"A water droplet, a star, a Phoenix, a triangle, the winds, and the earth."

Avery stood up again as the pieces of the puzzle clicked together in her mind,

"These must be their symbols to represent their powers. The ones she gave them."

Avery bit her lip in thought,

But what are they doing here? I thought these were used to hurt Isabel in some way?

"You're awake."

Avery's head whipped around in fear to the source of the voice. When she saw Lay she backed up slightly,

"I read your journal. Is everything in there still true?"

He nodded,

"Yes. I was never under her influence."

Avery relaxed slightly before she remembered what happened,

"Baekhyun... he led me into a trap..."

Her voice was quiet as her heart stung with betrayal. Lay moved towards her and hugged her gently,

"It's alright. Baekhyun had no choice. Her influence is... powerful. She forces her way into your mind, bending you to her will. He truly didn't know what he was doing until it was too late. Baekhyun is a good man."

Avery nodded slightly as she relaxed into Lay's embrace. He smiled softly as he held her before she spoke again,

"Why have you never been affected? She doesn't even want you near her."

Lay sighed,

"I think I have some answers for you, but I have to start at the beginning."

Avery pulled away from him and sat down on the ground as he followed, gesturing for him to begin,

"Unlike my brothers, and before you ask: it's a metaphor. We aren't actually related."

Avery nodded in understanding as he continued,
