"Hey Hoseok! You got a package, it's in the kitchen."
Yoongi and Hoseok looked at each other in confusion, Jin disappeared to the bathroom as the two walked into the kitchen, finding a small package on the table. An innocent smile played itself on Hoseok's lips, "Do you think my family sent something?" Yoongi looked at it expectantly, "Could be." He spoke even though there was no return label.
Hoseok opened it in a flash, revealing another pill bottle with a note that read,
"Are you awake?"
The two rappers shared a look of confusion, Hoseok was the first to break the silence, uncertainty weaving into his tone, "We shouldn't tell anyone about this hyung..." Yoongi simply nodded in agreement, not sure himself of what to do.
Before the two could say anything else, the other five members came rushing towards the door with a tired sense of excitement. "Hey hurry it up we're going to be late!" Namjoon practically yelled, pushing Yoongi and Hoseok to the door. Even through the rush Yoongi was able to catch Hoseok slipping the pill bottle into his pocket, making a mental note to himself to talk to him about it later.
They both shared a look between each other, and like a silent agreement, they decided that for now, they had to focus.
The day passed with hardly any time for themselves, Yoongi never got the chance to ask about the pill bottle let alone talk to hoseok alone. But the next day, after some thought and a pep talk from Jimin, Yoongi had a surprise for Hoseok.
After their busy day of scheduling and planning, the seven tired boys arrived back at the dorm only for a few minutes before heading out again to find food. However, Yoongi had other plans. Pulling the sunshine boy aside, "Seok-ah, stay here with me."
"What? But hyung I'm hungry..." The boy said with a playful pout. Yoongi chuckled and sighed, "Just trust me ok?" and with that the two of them were left alone in the small apartment.
"So why didn't you want to go with the rest?" Hoseok asked more curious than anything. Yoongi just smiled, heading to the kitchen he pulled out a basket and grabbed a blanket from the couch before gesturing for the younger to follow.
Yoongi led them to the roof, the comforting summer nights' air kissing the younger like a friendly embrace as the summers bugs and the city's' music melted into a calming, familiar melody.
"It's been awhile." Yoongi spoke laying the blanket down and setting the basket on it.
Memories of star filled nights up on the rooftop, just the two of them, washed over Hoseok like a welcoming ocean, "Too long. We used to come up here all the time during training." Yoongi smiled fondly motioning for the younger to join him on the blanket.
Sitting next to Yoongi he watched as the older pulled out two bowls of Pork Bulgogi from the basket, his eyes immediately lighting up, "Hyung! Oh my god you made food?! When did you have time to make this?!" Yoongi just smirked, "You know I don't sleep at night Seok-ah" Hoseok beamed a smile all to big for this life as he breathed in awe, "You're unbelievable"
The two of them ate with a comfortable silence, both just content with being in the presence of the other as they watched the sun set over the restless city they called home. Yoongi noted how much he connected to the sounds swimming in the unforgiving ocean of air that plagued the city, all while the sun, seemingly untouched by the city's life, set quietly, and beautifully, behind. The two forces couldn't be anymore different, yet he couldn't help be think they weaved a relationship stronger than what he could see. That the giving sun needed the collision of the hungry city just as much as the chaotic city needed it's lovely sun.
Once they had finished their meal and the sun had fully set, Yoongi broke the silence in a determined, passionate voice, "Seok-ah, I meant what I said the other night. I'm going to help you." Hoseok looked at him with the beginning of a heart shaped smile before laying down on the blanket, resting his hands behind his head, "I know hyung."
Unable to shake the smile on his face he looked at Yoongi who was now laying next to him, "Thank you." he breathed. Yoongi looked back at him confused, "For what? I haven't done anything yet."
"You did." Hoseok's grin softened to a gentle smile. Yoongi stared at him, wanting to save that smile, to never let the image go. The sun set minutes ago yet his was shining ever so brightly and just for him.
After a moment the younger averted his gaze to the now shining stars that littered the night sky. Yoongi, after a moment longer, ripped his gaze from the other to stare up at the constellations, sighing before he spoke again, "Seok-ah, take a few days off twitter. And don't go practice tonight, we already spent the whole day dancing. Instead...stay with me, how about I help you write a letter to your family, yeah?"
The younger was quiet, for what felt like decades to Yoongi, he wanted to help but he could only do so much if Hoseok wasn't willing. Yoongi caught himself staring at the side profile of Hoseok and watched as his eyes fell, a deep sigh ringing through the younger. The boys' arms fell from behind his head to his sides, brushing against Yoongi's as he breathed, "Okay."
Yoongi beamed his gummy smile as he erased the distance and gently squeezed Hoseok's hand, causing his eyes to open and gaze into Yoongi's.
The older found himself lost in the younger's deep brown orbs, where a whole universe lived just waiting to be explored, twinkling in the reflection of the night sky. That's when Yoongi realized, this person in front of him was more than just a band mate, more than just a friend, or even a best friend at that.
Even though he was unsure of what to call this strange bliss that he so often found himself floating on in his sunshine's presence, he also felt relieved. Like a piece of the puzzle had been put together. But still confused, like he was drowning in the sea of two deep brown eyes that held all the answers, and all the questions. He was unsure of what to ask, unsure of this new feeling he's finally admitted to, and unsure of what he should do about it. For now, he settled for smiling sweetly at two, deep brown eyes, and breathed,
"Okay."
