April. The flowers were in full bloom and the snow was gone, but Tyler didn't feel any better. He started to seriously contemplate "It" again. He figured he'd give it another week and then he'd try to talk to Josh about it... maybe. If he still didn't feel better after two weeks, he was going to do It. That gave them fourteen days. Tyler didn't know if he should think of it as "just fourteen days" or simply as "fourteen days".
After school on Monday, Josh and Tyler went out to the movies and saw Hellboy. At the concessions, Josh and Tyler each got a large Icee and medium popcorn. Josh also got some candy. During the showing, Tyler barely touched his popcorn but did manage most of his Icee.
When the movie finished both boys walked out and found the sun had set. Together, they went to Tyler's and played Super Smash Bros until midnight when Josh got tired and fell asleep on the couch. Tyler left the house through the front door as quietly as possible, he walked down the road a ways until he got dizzy and had to sit down. He should probably have eaten the popcorn. He somehow dozed off for a few minutes and woke with stiff muscles. After stretching a bit, Tyler stood and began making his way home.
When Tyler made it in the door Josh was sitting up on the couch, "Hey."
Josh watched Tyler as he took his shoes off and made his way to the recliner, sitting down in it cross-legged, "I thought you'd gone to your room, I knew you weren't going to go to sleep. Do you sleep at all anymore, Tyler?"
"Yeah, I just fell asleep out there," Tyler spoke before thinking.
"Tyler... you're disappearing," Josh began to cry and it startled Tyler.
"No I'm not," Tyler was legitimately confused by Josh's words.
"Tyler, your clothes look like they're floating around you and you always look exhausted."
"Good to know I look awful."
"That's not what I'm saying! I'm saying that you're my best friend and I know when something is wrong. I shouldn't have kept quiet this long. I should have stepped in forever ago. I'm so sorry. You've lost your sway and glow, Tyler."
Josh stood up and Tyler joined him, unsure what to do in this situation, "Josh, I'm o-"
"You're not okay!"
"Josh, my parents are sleepi-"
"I don't care, Tyler! Why don't you ever tell me what's wrong? I feel like I'm using you whenever I come to you with my problems because you never share yours. You never let me try to help."
"I'm just... stressed, okay? I'll be alright, Josh. I'm sorry," Tyler was crying too, now, "I'll talk to you more. I promise."
Josh was reluctant but gave in to Tyler. He walked over and wrapped Tyler in a hug, "I won't let go 'til we both see light, okay?"
"Okay."
