Tyler: You should skip school today.
Josh: How? Why?
Tyler: Find a way, bro! I want to hang out today. Everyone needs a break from school every once in awhile anyway
Josh: Tru...
Okay, I'll find a way
Tyler: Yayyyy!!!
Josh: Lol :P
Tyler: ^-^
Tyler wanted to make today the best day possible for Josh. That started with getting him away from school--Tyler knew it had been stressing him out. That was done. Tyler's plan was basically to go with the flow, see what happened, but definitely do some of their favorite things.
As soon as Josh came over Tyler offered they have a short band practice. Josh was game. They concluded their practice by playing their favorite song one last time. Josh had no clue it would be the last time.
Once they'd come back inside, they sat down in front of the TV with a hoard of snacks--Twinkies, two pints of ice cream, Lay's potato chips, crackers with spread cheese, and so on--and played Super Smash Bros. Josh was delighted to see Tyler eating again. Tyler realized that maybe his not-eating was a self-hatred-fueled thing after-all, at least partially. He mentally shrugged it off.
When they'd grown bored of Super Smash Bros, Josh offered they play a rematch game of King out in the driveway. Tyler gladly took him up on it. Josh ended up winning even though Tyler really did give it his all. To finish the day off strong they went and saw whatever new movie looked the best, both of them enjoyed some popcorn and theater candies. Icee's too, of course. However, after the movie ended they realized they had just enough time to go bowling.
They both had worn pretty light colors that day so they both got a kick out of glowing in the black light; they always loved it no matter how many times they experienced it. They had such a blast, laughed so much and so loud that they actually managed to get a warning from the employees. They laughed about that on the way home once they'd finished their game, along with five pitchers of coca-cola.
Tyler had been the one driving all day so he was the one to take Josh home. Tyler got out with Josh and they performed their handshake again, hugging longer than normal at the end. Josh went in his house with a huge smile. Tyler was happy but he wasn't. He loved Josh and he cared about Josh and that was part of why he had to do It. He couldn't keep holding Josh back. He couldn't keep pulling him down. But, maybe he was wrong and this would hurt him? No, he'd be better off.
