21. Promises and Fury

"Yllak, I'm scared."

I looked at Leigh. We were walking down town again. She was hlding a cone of ice cream while I was holding her hand. We decided to spent our last day in Greece going around town and enjoying ourselves. Hindi ko na nga iniisip si Ares. Ares left yesterday. Napikon siya sa akin dahil sa sinabi ko sa kanya tungkol sa babaeng iyon. They been going at it for a long time and I knew about it kaya hindi ko maintindihan kung anong habol niya kay Leighton. I had this feeling that he was only doing it to spite me. We grew up always competing with each other – kahit na mas matanda siya sa akin.

"Why, baby?" I asked her. Inalis ko ang buhok niyang tumabing sa kanyang noo. I kissed her forehead. I could see the wariness in her face. Para bang may gusto siyang sabihin pero hindi niya magawa –gawa.

"We'll go back tomorrow." She sighed. "What if things change?" She looked at me. She looked so worried. Napangiti lang ako. I cupped her face.

"Magkasama tayo. Huwag kang bibitaw, baby. Hindi naman ako magbabago. Ikaw at ako, para tayong walis tingting. Kapag magkasama – mahirap baliin." Napangiti siya. Kinurot niya ang ilong ko.

"Madalas sabihin ni Nanay iyan sa atin noon." She giggled. I kissed her temple. Leigh is my haven. She's like my home. Kahit na gaano kalayo – sa kanya ako babalik at hinding-hindi ako aalis dahil kaming dalawa ay para sa isa'tisa. Matagal kong ikinubli ang nararamdaman ko at ngayon na nandito na kaming dalawa – there's no way I'm ever going to let her go.

"Hey wait!" She looked up at me. "Do you wanna go to the Ionian Islands? Maganda doon!"

"Gusto mo doon? Sure!" Masayang-masaya siyang niyakag ako papunta sa pier. Doon sumakay kami ng bangka. We were the only people on the boat. I made her sat on my lap and wrapped my arms around her. Inihilig niya ang ulo niya sa dibdib ko at saka pinaglaruan ang daliri ko. Every moment spent with her is bliss.

An hour and a half passed by and we reached the Ionian Islands. The ocean is so blue – masarap sa mata. The sand is white – there were foreigners around the shore. They seemed to be enjoying the sunlight. Parang laging summer sa Greece. Leighton took my hand and we walked away from the shore. Tinuturo niya sa akin ang lighthouse na nasa itaas ng bundok.

"Noong first time ko dito sa Greece, dinala ko ni Kath dito. She made a face. "Hindi ko pa nakakasama si Kuya Hector dito sa Greece. Noong nagpunta ako dito five years ago, nakakulong na si Kuya, so I was sad. Si Kath lang ang karamay ko."

"Sorry for that... I could've been with you. I could've been your brother that time..." Naglalakad kami paakyat sa lighthouse sa pagkakataong iyon. Huminto siya at hinarap ako.

"So kung hanggang ngayon magkapatid tayo, what we did two nights ago that made my knees jell-o is incest." Kinindatan niya ako. Leighton is just so cute.

"That is not incest. We are not related. You know that."

"See! Iyon na nga eh! Don't pretend to be something that you're not. I don't want you to be my brother. Yllak, kahit hindi pa ako sigurado kung mahal ba kita o natutuwa lang ako sa'yo – ayaw kitang maging kapatid! I love the fact that you made love to me and I'm looking forward to the next nights we'll be spending together." Bigla siyangt yumuko. "I love the feel of your thing inside of me..." Halos bulong nang lumabas iyon sa bibig niya. I grinned. I could take her now – right here right now and I will never give a damn about others. Gusto ko si Leigh lang. Mahalaga siya. Mahal ko siya.

"'Lika na nga! Hmp!" She ended up laughing with me. Narating namin ang pinakatuktok ng lighthouse. The view is magnificent. Leighton kissed my cheek as I stood beside her. Napatingin ako sa kanya.
