Summary: Matty decides to avenge you when a jerk from his past leaves you hurt.

Matty grew excited when he heard the door open.

You had been out all night with your girls. It was a trip designed to cheer up your best friend, who had recently gone through a very rough and traumatic breakup that left her shaken with low morale. It was to be filled with bar hopping, dancing, and well...friends having fun. Matty was all for the activity, as he had grown over time close to your friend and knew she hardly deserved the heartbreak she got. He simply felt rather nervous about you, and not for any jealous or commanding reason. He knew of a certain someone, an old mate of his turned terrible violent prick, who loved to bar hop the same area you had planned. He was terrified of you running into him and mentioning his name, how you two had been dating for months and happily so at that. He did not want his old baggage to find you and leave you hurt.

That was why, when he heard the door shut, he immediately got up from his seat on the couch and ran up to you. He had to see for his own eyes that you were okay. He had to know that, even if you were drunk out of your mind, or even smelling of some other guy's cologne, you did not get hurt by him. That's when he noticed, in the dim light of his entry way, a dark purple bruise on the side of your cheek, and a hint of blood. He noticed your tears, probably stinging the wound with their saltiness, and your quiet sobs. Falling into his arms, all you asked for was comfort. He gave you that comfort without question, though in the pit of his stomach, he wanted nothing more than to avenge you, and give the son of a bitch he knew was responsible a piece of his mind.

As soon as you calmed down, Matty brought you to the kitchen and hoisted you up onto the counter. He noticed the blood on your shirt and winced. Your wound must have really scared you when it first opened up. His eyes asked you permission to take it off, and in your sobs you gave it to him, letting him discard the soiled garment to the side. He disappeared only for a moment to get some disinfectant and a washcloth. After spraying the disinfectant on it, and kissing you to apologize for the sting, he used the washcloth to dab away the blood. It washed away soon, leaving Matty the chance to go and grab you some ice. He brought it up to your cheek for you to hold, but upon seeing how shaken you were, he decided he could hold it there himself. He simply wanted you to be okay.

He waited fifteen minutes before leaving you to hold the ice so that he could call George. Sure, it was late and George nearly did not pick up and was irate that Matty woke him up, but as soon as Matty explained the situation, he agreed to be over there as soon as he could get dressed. Ten minutes passed before the doorbell rang. George walked in and immediately went over to you, hugging you tight and letting you get out some of your emotions on him. Matty made his way over to the sad scene and got up on the counter next to you. When George pulled away, Matty's arm wrapped around you.

"Love, I know you are scared and not feeling fantastic, but I need you to answer two questions for me," he said, hushed and gentle so as to not frighten you any more. It took you a moment, but you nodded and allowed him to speak. "First...are the other girls okay? None of them got hurt?"

You nodded, hiccuping through your sobs. "T-They brought me home. After they g-got me away from...from him, they knew to bring me h-here."

Matty shared a glance with George. "Okay. Now, this one is real important babe. I need you to let me know this if you know it. What was his name?"

You frowned. The mere thought of the boy seemed to trouble you. George reached to take your hand, giving it a soft and comforting squeeze. Matty rubbed your shoulder to reassure you more that you would be alright. After a moment to regain yourself, you turned to Matty and spoke.
