Summary: "Matty stated in a recent interview that he had his eyes lasered so can you possibly write something where Matty's girl takes care of him after getting lasik?"

"Fuck, I can't see for shit, goddammit."

It had been a day, alright. A day of a moaning Matty walking at your side into his surgery, cringing knowing all of the issues and frustration coming in his recovery, practically having to be coaxed into going in for the actual procedure by you. A day of him coming out of the surgery wearing those big ass black sunglasses, feeling like shit and complaining, holding your hand simply so that he won't run into anything. A day of him bitching once the numbing eye drops wore off because he can't itch like he wants to, throwing himself against walls lazily because he hated he did this to himself, and 'you let him willingly walk into this situation'.

Frankly, you just wanted a nap. But, Matty was Matty, and you had sworn to take care of him.

Thankfully, you had had enough foresight to bring Allen over to friends. As much as you loved the pooch and knew he would make Matty feel better, Allen was a huge dog who believed he was a lap dog. The moment Matty sat down, you could just see Allen hopping up, knocking the glasses off his face, and licking Matty's eyes. You couldn't take that risk, no matter how much Matty whined while he walked inside about it.

Another thing, this more annoying than the itching feeling, was the fact that Matty had to keep away from smoke for about a week. He feared what he would become without his daily smoking. You swore to help him through it, buying any kind of nicotine supplement you could find at the nearest store for him and stocking it up. The very first thing Matty did after arriving home and sitting on the couch was ask for one. You returned with a patch and helped administer it on his skin. He sighed. It was nothing like the real thing, but it'd do. Especially when he slept, which he felt really eager about doing.

You brought him into his bed, careful to ease him down slowly so as to not jostle the shades on his face. Laying on his back, he let out the mother of all sighs. It was apparent he wasn't a fan of the position, but he much like his issue with his cigarettes couldn't do much about it. You frowned and sat beside him, running your hand through his curls lazily.

"Do you want me to make you some tea for when you wake up?"

He nodded, a soft moan escaping him. He itched at his arm, just below the patch. "I hate this fucking thing. I just want to roll a blunt or something, anything to get my mind off of how fucking itchy this is."

"Don't you dare itch," you warned, your voice dark and commanding. Matty liked to call this your teacher voice. "You better not fuck up your eyes. They're lovely and I'll forever be pissed at you if you ruin them because they are itchy."

"You don't understand-"

"Matthew, don't make me have to tie your hands to the headboard."

"Kinky."

You rolled your eyes. "I'm going to go make the tea. Sleep well, princess."

"That's mean."

"It's what you get for making me have to use your full name on you," you replied, throwing in a wink to let him know it's fine. You weren't sure if he caught it, but you got up anyway and head out the door, shutting it tight behind you. You spend the next hour and a half making the tea and preparing the series of drops Matty has to take - an antibiotic eye drop, a steroid eye drop, and lubricating eye drops. You grabbed them all along with the tea once the time was up, and then went back into Matty's room. You found him still laying in the same position, but now sound asleep. It warmed your heart to see him at peace. Setting down his drops, you took to your spot next to him on the bed and pet his hair. It did not wake him up, but brought a soft smile to his face. It was a gorgeous sight to see.

You let him sleep for about thirty more minutes like this, and then decided to wake him up. He yawned, and then immediately winced. You had to hold his hand away from his eyes, the other gripping at the sheets. A few tears fell, which made you frown. It was to be expected, but you still hated the thought of them coming from any pain.

"My eyes feel fucking like something's in them."

"They said that could happen Matty, it's all normal," you assured him. He groaned, not impressed.

"I should've just kept my fucking glasses. The fans liked the glasses, they did."

You smiled, pitying. "I did too, love. But your eyes were getting so bad. It wasn't fair to yourself to be blind like that on stage. You were one unseen fall away from hurting yourself."

"At least if I'm hurt, my eyes won't feel like they're on fire."

"C'mere grumpy, let me take off your glasses and get these drops in for you."

Though he wished to rather throw a fit and somehow let that make things better, Matty complied, turning his face so that you could properly get the plastic contraptions off. His eyes looked very red, which again you knew was normal but still shocked you. You cupped his face, and then went over to grab the drops. Bringing them back, you took the first.

"This may sting a bit," you warned him. It was the antibiotic one. Sure enough, when it went in, Matty clenched his fist and grumbled. You apologized, but did the other one soon after. Next came the steroid ones, and those went in about the same. It made the lubricating ones all the more enticing.

"You should feel better with these," you told him, and he smiled, genuinely, because anything would be better than what you had just put into his eyes. Two drops, and Matty was better. They did wonders for his itchy feeling, if anything. You leaned down and kissed him after you were done.

"Your eyes make you look higher than a kite, but you're still so beautiful."

He smiled, not believing you for a moment but too in love with you to care. "I'm so lucky to have you here. You're honestly a doll to put up with all this."

Smiling back, you reached down and squeezed his hand. "You put up with some crazy shit when you're in love."

"That you do. Speaking of, can you hand me the tea you made? This patch is wearing off and I feel like I'm going to go batshit crazy if I don't have something to calm me down."

Giggling, you pressed a kiss to his cheek. "Of course, my blind idiot. I love you."

"I love you too, {Y/N}."
