hello! I hope you like it so far!
Julie's PoV:
It is pouring rain when we arrive at Bree. There is a giant gate surrounding the city, and Frodo approaches it with us close behind.
'Hello.' I hear a whisper behind me. I jump and look to see Pippin, with his hood on, and he waves slightly.
I nod my head in greeting at him and he smiles at me.
'....Four hobbi- five! Five hobbits!' I hear distinctly over to rain slamming on us. I cannot make out what he says next, but I understand Frodo saying 'We wish to stay at the inn. Our business is our own.'
The gatekeeper lets us in and I am suddenly afraid of our surroundings. There are many people out, and I have slight social anxiety, so I stay close to Pippin, mostly because he is the nearest one to me. I bump into a man eating a carrot and we come up to an inn called the 'Prancing Pony.' I remove my hood as we walk into the warm setting.
I still stay close to Pippin and I try to avoid having another attack.
I notice a man who is just sitting down. He wears a black cloak and is smoking a pipe.
'Hey hey.' I hear Pippin say. 'Time to go come on.'
We walk to a small hobbit-sized room, but there are only for beds.
'Enjoy.' The person says.
'Why don't you guys sleep in the four beds and I will sleep on the floor.' I ask quietly.
'You sure?' Pippin asks. I nod.
'Yes don't worry I am used to it.' I think to myself. The put their stuff down, but I only remove my cloak and hood. Merry, Frodo, and Sam leave the room, with Pippin following, but he stops and looks at me.
'You coming?' He asks me.
'Where?' I ask him back.
'We are just going to get a drink.' He tells me, hoping I will come. I have a small glimpse of when my grandpa was drunk and slapped me once.
'Oh. Um... No I think I will stay here for a while.' I say.
'Please? I have a feeling you shouldn't stay here alone.' He begs.
'Pippin!' I hear down the hall. I sigh and take hold of my purse.
'Very well. Just for a minute or two.' I admit.
'Thank you.' He says. He grabs my hand and drags me out of the room. I see Merry in the hall waiting for us.
Pippins PoV:
Oh no. Why did I go for her hand? It is really soft... No bad idea! Oh great! Merry will see and no he is going to tease me. It's to late now to let go, if I do, she will probably fall down because I am dragging her.
'What took you so long?' Merry asks us. I look at Julie, who is still kind of feeling awkward because I am holding her hand. I smile slightly and let it go. She quickly brings her hand back and puts it in her pocket.
'Julie was deciding on going.' I say to Merry.
'Did you force her to come Pippin?' Merry asks me quietly.
'I might've given her a little nudge.' I confess. He shakes his head and looks at her.
'Do you still like her?' He asks me. Well, just now we had our first actual communication. Yes I still did like her... A lot... But that doesn't matter now.
'That doesn't matter. Come on. Let's go catch up with Frodo and Sam.' I say.
Later, while Frodo, Sam and I sit at the table, I see Julie fiddling with her purse and scoot next to her. She sees me and scoots away.
'What? Your purse is pretty.' I say.
'Don't lie Pippin. I've had people tell me it's ugly and old.' She says quietly, 'and that it's freaky.' She mumbled indistinctly, but I still hear it. I am about to ask her what she means when Merry comes in between us, gazing at his drink. Whoa. It's huge!
'What is that?' I ask in awe.
'This, my friend, is a pint!' He says.
'It comes in pints? I'm getting one!' I say, getting up.
Julie's PoV:
I lift my head when I hear the word "pints". I urge myself to get up and stop Pippin from leaving, but he is to quick. I look to the side instantly, and see if that man is still there. He sees me staring at him and I am sure we made eye contact.
'...Baggins? Sure I know a Baggins!' I hear faintly. I see Frodo immediately look over to Pippin, who is blabbing about how they are related. Frodo gets up and rushes over to Pippin, who pushes him back hard by accident. Frodo falls back and hits the ground hard. He catches the ring with his finger and disappears. I look over to the man who is seemingly interested. As I stand, I accidentally lean on Pippins cup and it falls over, spilling the contents.
'Julie-' Pippin says.
'No it's my fault. You go see where Frodo is I'll clean it up.' I say. I weave my way through the crowd and grab some napkins, then go back to the table and wipe it down. After, I walk out to go look for the others.
I approach a room with talking in it. I knock on it loudly, but no response. I try again, being more careful, and wait. My back is to the door when I hear the door open, and a hand goes around my waist and the other covers my mouth as I let out a muffled cry.
