Sherlock smiled at the sleeping form of Jim next to him. He took in everything about him, the peaceful look on his face, his disheveled raven hair, the paleness of his chest, the countless scars that decorated his skin, the way his hand curled as though he was holding a gun. He ran his fingers over a scar in his stomach, tracing the jaggedness of it. He always wondered how Jim came to have his scars, but whenever he asked, Jim shut down on himself for a day at least. Of course Sherlock could guess but he doubted if he would ever really know the truth. The peacefulness of the moment was ruined by the sound of footsteps, belonging to someone he knew too well, climbing the stairs. "Mycroft." He hissed to himself. With a scowl on his face, he rolled himself out of the bed and pulled on his dressing gown. He left his room, making sure to shut the door behind him in case Mycroft decided to have a look around. "What do you want Mycroft?" He asked as he walked over to his chair and collapsed into it.
"Just thought I would come for a check-up, brother dear."
"What do you really want Mycroft?"
"It would be greatly appreciated by many if you would direct your attention to the case presented to you the other day."
"No."
"And why not?"
"I'm busy."
"Doing what? You don't currently have a case to solve."
"I'm relaxing, waiting for John to return from work, doing some experiments. The usual." Sherlock shrugged, glaring at his brother.
"Sherlock. I won't ask you again."
"Don't then."
"You are behaving like a child."
"What a shame." He stood, pushing past Mycroft and went into the kitchen. "If there's nothing else you can leave."
"I will talk to Dr Watson about the case, I'm certain he can convin-"
A hand slapping Sherlock's ass interrupted the Holmes' conversation. "Morning Sherly." Jim's voice spoke.
"Really Jim? I was making tea." Sherlock rolled his eyes at the criminal's childish behaviour. "I didn't expect you to wake up this early anyway." Sherlock replied, ignoring his brother's stare as he handed Jim a cup of tea, gladly noticing the fact he was dressed in only his trousers.
"It's 10:30 in the morning, I don't sleep all day." Jim took a sip before noticing Mycroft's presence. "Hello Myc."
"Moriarty." Sherlock chuckled at his brother's uncomfortable expression.
"Problem brother dear?"
"What is he doing here?"
"Oh but I thought you were the smart one, that's what Sherlock tells me you call yourself. Surely you can figure it out."
"I mean, he did just slap my butt Mycroft. Bit of a giveaway isn't it?"
"Yes. I suppose it is. So my brother has been sleeping with the master criminal, how delightful."
"I'm glad you approve of your baby brother's choices Myc."
"It's Mycroft to you, Moriarty."
"Whatever you Myc." Sherlock grinned at Jim's petty attitude and wrapped his arms around his waist.
"I didn't think you did human contact."
"Well clearly I do. Now, if there is nothing else you want, it would be appreciated if you left. Jim and I have some business to finish."
"Oh god." Mycroft muttered as he quickly left the flat. Jim turned in Sherlock's arms as they heard the door shut.
"How bad you are."
"I don't know what you mean."
"Lying to your big brother like that, and not telling him you are dating the most dangerous man in the world? My heart shatters at the thought."
"Oh shut up." He laughed, placing a kiss on Jim's lips. "I didn't see you rushing to tell him either."
"Not my brother." Jim shrugged, kissing him back.
"Alright smartarse."
"Thank you."
"I didn't mean it as a compliment."
"Yes you did."
"Yeah, okay." Both of them laughed at themselves as they remembered that day. "Who would've thought I would end up with the man that threatened to burn my heart."
"Have I succeeded?"
"You haven't burnt it but you definitely have it."
"And you have mine." Jim kissed him again gently before pulling away. "God you taste like sentiment."
"Shut up Jim. You taste just as sentimental."
"Hmm, I suppose you're right." Jim shrugged, walking out of Sherlock's arms with his tea.
"You know just how to ruin a rare moment don't you?" He got a shrug in response. "You're unbelievable sometimes." He chuckled as he returned to his bedroom to change out of his dressing gown.
