Harry

“Something! Anything!!!” I cried desperately. Niall found a walgreens after Perrie performed CPR on Alex. She had a bad nose bleed, was unconscious and scariest of all she was ice cold. I was knocking prescriptions off the shelfs desperately in the farmacy with the others around  me.

“Guys I found something!” Niall cried holding up a box. Inside was an injection needle and a light almost white blue liquid. I read what it was and what it was used for, and it matched Alex’s condition almost perfectly.

“I will do it,” I said taking it way from an unsure Niall. I poked Alex’s arm and injected her with the serum. Zayn put a bandaid on the spot afterward then dropped to his knees and began to pray. Lily was fighting Alex’s nose bleed. As we moved Alex back to the car, and laid her down Perrie stocked up on supplies and medicine.

“Is she going to be okay?” Lily whispered quietly as she stroked Alex’s long hair. No one answered because in reality none of us were sure.

“Alex took care of us till now. Now it’s our turn to take care of her.” I said reassuringly.

“Guys we need more supplies especially for Arianna and Alex,” Liam said. Niall nodded from the drivers seat and pulled up to a deserted destroyed walmart. Niall, Arianna, Lily, and Alex stayed in the bus. The rest of us ran out and into the walmart. Hundreds of things lay broken all over the floor, open cereal boxes with cereal spilled, canned foods, clothing, jewelry, blood, appliances, toilet paper, etc. And the disgusting smell from dead bodies which now was all over the world. As I turned the corner I found one of the sources. The body was of a girl no older than six. She even had the blond pigtails, but they were covered in dry blood. She lay face down, on a pool of dry blood, and her head looked distorted. She was bitten, and someone smashed her head in, I determined sadly. I imaged a mother grabbing anything off the shelfs franticly, and hitting her daughter in the head. I shook the unpleasant thought out of my mind, and continued on my way, stepping over the dead child. I grabbed a box of diapers that still looked in tact. I turned another corner and made my way down the aisle to the back of the store where food is. Surprisingly there was a lot. I grabbed everything that was still in tact and shoveled it into a nearby shopping cart then made my way to the front to get back with the others. As I passed the jewelry part of the store something caught my eye. I smiled and took the necklace off of the shelf shoving it into my pocket. I ran out to the bus and the others helped me unload. We now had food, medicine, 4 first aid kits, alcohol swabs, chapstick, blankets, pillows, air freshener, toilet paper roles, hair brushes, rubber bands, bobby pins, and baseball bats. When we continued moving I went over to the still unconscious Alex. She was burning up and when I put my hand on her forehead I realized that she had a fever.

“What’s happened to her?” Perrie asked quietly from the seat in front of me and Alex.

“What I want to know is how does someone get that sick after a loss? Depressed? Probably. But sick?” Zayn asked.

“Trust me mate, if I knew, I would tell you,” I said.

“So where do we go now?” Niall asked.

“To Harwich Harbor, It’s where Alex would want to go.” Lily chimmed

“Go to europe's mainland? Especially now that we're in winter! Crossing the sea before, it wasn't that bad it was still warm. But now?” Louis asked.

“Trust me on this guys, I read it in a book before. Go north because stupid survivors will go south. We can hide up north too,” Lily reasoned.

“Okay,” Niall said turning the bus around and following a map on his phone.

“But guys there’s still one more problem.” Lily said.

“What?” I asked.

“The power.”

Gil

“Dr. Armstrong, your tea,” I said placing the hot cup in front of the happy man.

“Gil,” Dr. Armstrong called. I straightened up and turned slightly to face him. He laughed. “She’s making so much progress! I am so excited to see her after her fever passess. It’s good that we managed to give her the injection. Alexsandra is blossoming vibrantly!” Dr. Armstrong said proudly as he stood, and walked around the desk in the middle of the room to the huge screen on the wall which was showing thousands of surveillance pictures of ‘Alexandra’ the girl the Dr. was so found of.

“Yes, Dr. But I can help but wonder,” I started.

“Yes?”

“You haven't given her the fear shots in so long, why go through all the trouble of giving her a dose now?” Dr. Armstrong laughed at my question.

“That’s exactly the point, her body grew accustomed to the serum when I still lived with her. So now after six years I am curious to see her body’s reaction. It seems it was such a shock to her body, and because of the emotional disturbance with Kyler, it froze her lungs. Now she appears to have a very high fever, interesting,” Dr. Armstrong said almost talking to himself now, as he typed in his laptop. Having sat back down as he talked. “My little flower, it’s now your move.”

“Are you so confident that she will awaken from such a high fever?” I asked.

“Without a doubt,” Dr. Armstrong said. “Oh, and thank you for the tea.”
