We all gasped. Finally it all made sense. Luke had something a gang wanted. They chased him out of his home and went on the run from them. He was a normal school boy not a master criminal who had expensive stolen jewels they'd want! What do they want from him? This completely baffled me. I thought back to the time when he was still at secondary school. When you don't know what might be up with them you don't notice if they mention something strange. That was years ago and I can't remember him ever mentioning anything about people trying to take things from him nor had he ever even mentioned a gang! I'm sure of it.
I can't believe Jason! I felt so used. He kept promising it wasn't all an act but it must have started as one whether he liked me by the end or not. To be fully honest I realised then that I didn't know much about Jasons background life. He'd told me what his house looked like but it was nothing like this. He had told me who his family was and what they were like but they certainly weren't here. Most people aspire to be famous and have great paying jobs or have huge families and devote their lives to caring for them but the people here can't do that. They are told what to do and when to do it. No future ahead of them and no one they can trust. How can you live like that?
"Jason"
"Yeah"
"Why did you never even hint at any of this?"
"I couldn't. She would have killed me seriously."
"Well she could have killed me and she still can kill me at any point."
"Look I know you are hurt but you should know I'm sorry."
"I feel like you could have prevented this. All of this."
"You don't think that's what I wanted. I've always told myself I wouldn't get involved because once it was over she would move me to another school and do it all over again. It was different this time with you. I didn't want to move on. I told her I didn't want to do this because I got attached to the people and I feel bad for betraying them like this. All the told me was once I do it so many times I would just forget. Loose my emotions towards people, end up not caring." Jason said, his voice wavering tears forming in his big blue eyes.
"I'm so sorry! I don't understand you. I know that you were forced to. I got attached as well. It's gonna be okay. You might even end up seeing your mam again imagine that!" I said hugging him, trying to reassure him stroking his head. "What does she even want from Luke?"
"I'm just the worker. Only the guards really know because they are with her constantly. They will always overhear things."
"If we can get out of here you can come with us. See your family again!"
"What if they aren't even there any more. What if they have moved on without me? Thought I was dead"
"Then imagine how happy they will be to see you okay and well. If that doesn't inspire you imagine the dragon lady behind bars."
"I'd love that"
"Look you know how everything works here and she trusts you so use that to your advantage and get us the heck outta here!"
"I'm scared though! What if she finds out! I'm rubbish at acting" his eyes full of terror
"Are you kidding me? Well you convinced me anyway!" I said smiling.
"Grace! You make me feel bad" Jason moaned
"I'm kidding! Team up with us?" I asked my eyes huge saucers filled with hope.
He looked up at me shaking his hair, revealing his handsome, sparkling, blue eyes, his classic smug grin plastered across his face. Sitting up and moving closer.
"Sure" Jason muttered deeply before leaning forward and kissing me slow. I closed my eyes, my heart skipping beats with every second going past.
I was myself again.
I was happy.
