€hapter 9:

    ~Alex~

   I was currently listening to my friend Garnette, giving me a lecture on unnecessary things, when the final bell rang.

    Excusing myself, I practically leaped to my locker.

   I was so worried about Rebel, I needed to apologize for everything I had said earlier.

   What if she doesn't want anything to do with me?

   As I slammed my locker shut, I noticed K.C standing across the hall and urgently ran over to her.

   "Hey, K.C right? You are good friends with Rebel, am I wrong?" I say in a rush.

   "Of course, why? Let me guess, you want to go out with her, well you're out of luck. She hasn't dated anyone in 3 years."

   "Oh, ha ha, no. Actually, we are working on a project and she didn't tell me where she lived."

  "Oh that's easy. She lives like a mile down the road. It's not hard to miss hun, it's red with a yellow door. Good luck, and by that I don't mean with the project." She replied giving me a worringly yet hopeful glare.

  "Thanks I'll need it."

   After what seemed like hours, mostly because I was really anxious, I finally arrived at a red house with a yellow door.

   It was quite disgusting outside to be honest and I couldn't quite grasp myself of the thought.

   I knocked on the door in a quick rhythm, louder than I had wanted, and faster than lightning, there was an elderly lady with chesnut hair staring up at me.

   "I don't want to offer any money boy, now please excuse yourself off of my yard." She says in a sofisticated tone, that sounded very hateful.

   She was beginning to shut the door when I stopped it with my fist.

  "Excuse me mam, I'm actually here to see Re- I mean Paris." I say in a sharp voice.

  She gave me a surprised look before opening the door the rest of the way.

    "She's upstairs"

   "Thanks."

   And without another peep, I jolted upstairs.

   Their were only two rooms up there, and one was lit up, so I figured it was hers.

   I crept my way in and saw that the bathroom door was slightly cracked.

   Quiet moans of pain coming from it made my heart pound furiously in its cage.

   I know Rebel has a history of self-manipulative acts and right now those acts seemed to only make my breathing abnormal and my brain pulse.

   Without control, my legs charged towards the door, pushing me farther into the void I dare not approach.
  
   And to my horror, there, surrounded in a pool of blood, was Rebel.

   Her wrists were covered in deep gashes and her eyes seemed distant and full of pain.

   The first thought that came to mind was the fact that I had caused this. I brought back memories and pushed her thoughtlessly into a pit of blood.

   Her eyes locked into mine and a gasp hitched at her breath.

   I picked her up and sat her on the sink.

   "Oh, Rebel. I am so sorry. I was dumb and stupid. Full of ignorance. " I say as I wrap her arms up.

   "No, shut up. It wasn't you. Don't you understand that I will never escape this pain? God damnit Alex, just leave and let me bleed!" She screamed as she pushed my chest away.

   "You're right. I don't understand. I probably never will, not unless you help me understand your pain. Rebel, I wish you could see through my eyes. You are so beautiful, amazing, and talented. Your beautiful blue eyes hold more stars than any of the galaxies above. Whoever this Zach dude is, he lost something so damn special. Because if you were mine, I'd walk around the world with your hand held high, proud to call you mine." I reply lifting her chin and wiping away tears.

   "You're too beautiful to cry. "

   She took my hand away from her face and held it tightly.

   She stared up at me and it was as if all of my pain and fears were gone.

   My thoughts were shattered when a pair of soft lips collided gently with mine.

    It was then, that I knew what true love felt like.
