"I'm Uma." Uma nods at Ava in greating, before looking around the living room area we're currently standing in- it's open space, a huge flat screen TV is on the left wall, that's where the furniture - the 'L' shaped sofa, the two armchairs and a random computer chair too. Next to the TV is a DVD storage unit on each side, filled with all sorts of DVDs. Then there's a coffee table in the centre of the furniture, that has a book and cup of...coffee I believe, in there, obviously Ava's.
"It's great to meet you- I loovve your hair!" Ava gushes to Uma.
Then she looks at me and I hold out my hand for her to shake, remembering all those of of being taught manners. Damn England's getting to me already. "Lucie. Nice to meet you." Ava shakes my hand delicately, a genuine smile on her face.
"I'll give you guys a quick tour before getting in your rooms to settle for tomorrow - you guys must be exhausted." She lets go of my hand before walking in front of us and gesturing wide.
"Living area." To the right is a sleek black and white kitchen with a black marble island in the middle of it.
"Kitchen. Though we tend to eat together in the Main Hall." Then in front of us is a dark blue velvet curtain over a doorway that leads to five different rooms.
"Mine is this one on the right, opposite is the other roommate, she's normally at her boyfriend's place though so you won't see much of her except when she's studying or whatever. Then that's your room Uma, next to Eden's. And Lucie you're the one in the front of us, the one next to me is the bathroom, and it has a small storage room attached to it." She giggles. "So that's the end of the tour. I'll see you later unless you have any questions? I'll be in the living area." She smiles sweetly before leaving us alone to explore our rooms.Going to my room, I wave goodbye to Uma before going in to see what I'm lumbered with.
And blink in surprise as I take in my room -Its actually...amazing.
On my left is a white painted oak door that leads to a small walk-in-wardrobe, next to that is a tall drawer that has my collection of perfumes on the top. On my right is a white desk with my sleek black laptop on it, and there's a tall lamp next to it with a white shade, but with black markings on it - such as vines, leaves and flowers- it's gorgeous. My bed is huge- it could fit like four people in it,I bet five at a small push. The covers are a lilac colour, the only colour in the room, it matches the fluffy rug next to the bed, except the posters and pictures on the wall- there's a world map on the bulletin above my desk, just to the left. And surrounding it are my favourite pictures from my travels, along with my favourite film posters, music colleges I made a year or so ago - a memory of the life I had. My Aunt actually...She knew what I'd want my room to be like. Simple but...me.
The wall next to my bed, has written on it in cursive that reminds me of the curling words in the front gate from earlier, printed "I see things that I couldn't before. I hear things I couldn't hear before." One of my favourite song lyrics.
On the opposite wall there's an old looking mirror that is utterly gorgeous with its thick black frame with different etchings on it. Next to the mirror, facing my bed, is a huge window the looks out to the back of the Boarding School towards the more smarter towers, which are probably where the uptight snobs live who can't deal with the commoners here.
I snort, England hasn't really changed.
Above my window, in the same style as the first lyrics are, "I run to you in The darkness. I'll hold you close to me through this crazy race." Another favourite line. The curtains are flowing blackout ones so I don't have the sun in my face in the early morning. The ceiling is covered in rows of fairy lights that almost look like fireflies the way they glow softly in the softening light. The room is a prize in this shitty situation. On my new bed is a booklet that says "Raelia - Dorm rules and regulations ect" . I place my rucksack on the floor next to my bed and kick my shoes off as I sit down and pick it up to read.
