I wake up to the same sound of waves as the island.
It was all a dream.
A light sense of relief fills my lungs. I open my eyes just to have that sense leave my body.
It wasn't a dream.
I turn over and read the time on my phone.
7:04 A.M.
I jump out of bed and head to the shower. I.LOVE.SHOWERS! I feel as if sometimes showers aren't meant for cleaning your body. It's more of your mind.
I get out of the shower after having a deep thought session with myself, throw on the new outfit, brush my hair and throw it into a messy bun.
"Andrea! Breakfast is ready!" Hailey announces.
"I'll be right down!" I respond.
I grab my phone and a book bag prepared by Hailey. I run down the steel stairs and meet her at the cold, granite counter.
"Ready!" I say smiling.
She takes a couple glances at what I'm wearing.
"I think you look cute, based on someone who bought their outfit from Walmart." she smirks.
"Why thank you!"I say.
I start eating the plate of eggs and wholewheat toast she made.
"Hurry, hurry! You don't wanna be late for your first day." She says, rushing me.
I swallow up the rest of my breakfast and put the dishes in the sink.
We run out the door and get in the car. I notice that Hailey still looks like she just woke up. She has on a nice lavender off-the-shoulder blouse, white high waisted ripped jeans, and beautiful laced high heals, but her hair still looks like a bird nest.
As Hailey starts driving I notice she adds some makeup each time we stop at a red light. Smart.
By the time we reach the school Hailey is completely ready.
"You nervous?" She asks me.
"A little..." I admit.
"You'll do fine! Go get 'em kiddo!" she says, pulling me in for a hug.
I get out of the car and head inside to find my locker. As I walk down the hallway I notice many different faces. They all look happy laughing and joking around.
It takes me a couple of glances to realize that they weren't laughing and joking around at something stupid that happened on their way to school.
They were laughing at me.
I put my head down and speed walk forward, hoping to avoid all of the humiliating stares I was receiving.
"Are those mom jeans?" I hear a girl's voice say.
I completely ignore it at first, because I honestly didn't know to whom she was referring to. That is until,
"Yo, new girl!" The same voice says.
I turn around to face a blonde girl who's about my age. She's surrounded by two girls who are glued to her sides as if their life depended on it.
She walks up closer to me, her guard dogs following her.
"What's up USA." She says.
"Hi... I'm Andrea." I answer shyly.
"I'm Meredith, and I don't care." She sasses.
"Well it sure must be someone's time of the month." I whisper loud enough for her to hear.
"Excuuuuuse you?" She says shocked waving her finger in the air.
"Well, I should be heading to class now." I say as I turn around and walk away.
I can hear her saying something but I ignore it.
I find my way to my first period class.
Mrs. Roberts
It's still pretty early, and there aren't many students in class, so I use this time to check up on Kai.
...
Well, maybe another time
"Good morning class! I've heard we have a new student today! Miss Russett, would you mind introducing yourself please?" Mrs. Roberts says.
"Oh, sure!" I stand up and continue, "Hello, my name is Andrea Russett, and I'm a transfer student from Hawaii." I sit back down, blushing nervously as the class applauds to my introduction. Wow, this class seems pretty nice!
"Did you forget to mention that you have a thing for mom jeans?"
Meredith.
She walks into the classroom laughing and sits next to a group of guys.
"Miss Mickelson, you're late once again! I'm going to have to give you lunch detention if you keep coming late!" Mrs. Roberts announces loud enough for the whole class to hear.
"Oh, cut the crap Roberts, you know I'm always late." She snaps, turning her attention to her phone.
"Oh, how much I praaaay retirement will come my way soon! Thanks Obama... oh wait, it's worse now, it's Trump." She cringes.
Everyone starts laughing.
Class is great! Other than Meredith's rude entrance, class has been a blast! I love Mrs. Roberts.
The bell rings, and I wish it hadn't. Math. Yuck.
I grab my bag and head out the door.
"Whoops!" That familiar, sarcastic voice says.
I trip over Meredith's pointy high heeled boot, and fall right on my face.
"Ow!" I groan.
She has already met up with her guard dogs and they're laughing at me.
"Maybe those mom jeans should've been a little tighter!" She says, bursting into laughter once more.
"Hey! Knock it off!" The voice of a boy's voice says.
