Blaze Boy stood up and fired a small flame of fire at the metal mesh fence, instantly melting it. Soon he had made a hole big enough for us to squeeze through, so I fired water at the molten metal to cool it down, before scrambling through the hole, followed by Blaze Boy. We landed on hard concrete, and I winced as my leg hit the ground first. Another bruise to add to the collection. Whoop whoop.
"We need to find a way to get in." I whispered in the darkness, looking up at the guard tower.
"Let's get closer to the building. Keep your eyes open for any movement." Blaze Boy replied, crouching low. What the heck did he think I was doing?
We shuffled low towards the large, dark, circular building. As we approached the building's walls, I saw a guard begin walking in our direction. Uh oh. Panicking, I nudged Blaze Boy and pointed at the oncoming guard.
"Just take him down. It's just one guard." Blaze Boy muttered, ushering me towards the guard while he stood against the Headquarter's walls. Fine. Lurking in the shadows, I waiting until the guard was within reaching distance before firing a water jet as his face, catching him off guard and knocking him to the ground. Before he could even resist or yell, I was standing over him and snatching the large gun out of his hand.
"I'll take that." I stated, holding the gun in my left hand and aiming my right hand at the bewildered guard. "Now, can you tell me how I can get in this place?"
The guard simply stared up at me, wide-eyed.
"N-Never." He stammered, obviously not used to being interrogated by a 15-year-old superhero. Ha, what a loser.
"It's your loss." I declared, aiming the gun at his face. He began shaking uncontrollably.
"Okay! Okay! Please don't shoot! There's a fire exit from the direction I came from! But beware, there's a powerful electric force-field!" Satisfied with his answer, I swung the gun over my shoulder and shot him in the face with a high-velocity water jet, knocking him unconscious. He should wake up in about 2 hours, hopefully.
I scampered back over to Blaze Boy, who was waiting in the shadow of the building.
"I'm so proud of you." He drawled, smirking in the moonlight. He received a kick on his shin.
"Shut up." I replied, beginning to walk toward the fire exit door that the guard had come from. Blaze Boy ran to catch up.
"Where are you going?" He asked, walking alongside me, staying under the cover of the building. Out of the shadow was the harsh glare of floodlights, surrounding the grounds that we were trespassing in.
"Inside the building, idiot." I retorted, spotting the fire exit door ahead of us. Blaze Boy fell silent as we approached the doorway, and I stepped forward to grab the door handle. It was locked. From the inside.
You've got to be kidding me.
"Oh, for God's sake." I muttered, getting annoyed. This was typical.
"Stand back." I stood back as Blaze Boy fired two precise flames at the door, burning the lock and popping the door open.
Well, that's one way to do it.
Side by side we sauntered into the building, finding ourselves in a long corridor, with a lift at the end of it. There were no other doors, so I used the gun to shoot out the single CCTV camera by the door we had just entered from, and we quickly made our way towards the lift. Butterflies swarmed inside my stomach. I might not make it out alive. Imagine that, my own father killing me. Charming. Blaze Boy tapped the lift button and it pinged instantly, opening to show a very large lift, like the ones in art galleries.
"How big is this lift?!" I exclaimed, wandering into it. Blaze Boy took the gun from me and shot at the two CCTV cameras in the elevator.
"What level?" Blaze Boy asked, looking at the control panel. It showed a whopping 15 levels, and it appeared we were at level 10. That meant there must be 10 levels underground, because we were at ground level.
"Let's start from the bottom, and work our way up." I stated, tapping the button labelled 'LEVEL 1'. The elevator shook to life, and we glided downwards. Blaze Boy reloaded the gun and stood ready as the lift doors opened, revealing a corridor carved from rock. To be honest, it looked pretty awesome, and as Blaze Boy and I entered the corridor, lights flickered to life, probably by motion sensors. So this was my Dad's place then, heh? I had to admit, it was pretty 'lit' as Rachael would say. We followed the corridor's rocky path and it opened out into a large, rocky room, where artificial light streamed in through large light panels. It was eerily silent, and all that I could hear was the sound of my and Blaze Boy's shoes tapping on the hard concrete floor. There was a lit-up room with large windows up on what I presumed to be Level 2, as the room we were in was 2 storeys high.
"Where's all of ElectroNite's cronies?" Blaze Boy murmured, looking around the empty room.
"Maybe they're having a birthday party or having a Mario Kart battle." I mused, walking through the room.
"Mhm, of course." Blaze Boy muttered in reply, smirking a little. The large room came into another carved out corridor, and we had nothing else to do other than follow it. As we advanced down the dimly-lit corridor, I heard a third pair of footsteps.
"Stop." I whispered, backing up against the wall. Blaze Boy stopped walking, and the third set of footsteps stopped as well. Now I'm getting freaked out. "There's another set of footsteps, I swear."
Blaze Boy nodded and dragged me to continue walking. The third set of footsteps started up again, and they echoed down the corridor.
Someone was following us.
Blaze Boy turned to look behind us, but couldn't see anything. My thoughts were sent into a frenzy. I was gonna die. I was gonna die. I was gonna die.
C'mon Cass, man up.
"Stay here, I'll be right back." Blaze Boy said, turning around and heading back in the direction of the footsteps, clutching the gun to his chest. Now alone, I backed up against the rocky wall, and waited for Blaze Boy to return. Time passed, and I felt like I needed to go to the loo.
Great timing, Cass.
More time passed.
According to my watch, I had waited 15 minutes now, and there was no sign of Blaze Boy, and my bladder felt like it was going to burst.
I was a lone superhero in my father's headquarters.
What was I going to do?
