"What do you mean by that?" I asked, feeling inquisitive. "You want to go a skate park and pull off some tricks, or do you mean more serious stuff?" Blaze Boy laughed at my answer.
"Serious stuff, Miss Cascade. I was thinking of busting into ElectroNite's headquarters again, and this time, we get away with the serum, instead of making a fellow superhero go savage." Blaze Boy said, looking around at the fairly empty street.
"I have nothing better to do. Sure." I mused in reply, watching a red car drive past. "But there's a problem. I don't have my suit, and I don't feel like we should bring Rufus."
At my words, a twinkle came into Blaze Boy's eyes.
"Don't you worry about that." He exclaimed, leaning down to scoff up Rufus. "Wait here for a minute. Where's your suit located?"
Seriously. This unknown boy was now an expert on breaking into my apartment. I didn't feel so safe now.
"Under my bed, in a clear plastic bag." I muttered, watching as he nodded before launching himself into the sky, Rufus in his arms. I leaned against a street lamp, which had just flickered to life, and watched in mild amusement as the Australian tourists from earlier sauntered back down the street on the opposite side. How stupid can you be? Streets have names, surely you'd realize you had already been on this street. I continued watching as the supposed leader of the pack, a burly man of about 30, examined a large map of the city, pointing at something then showing his fellow Aussies. They all nodded in agreement at something, before one of the women of the group led the way back from the direction they had come from. I just prayed they wouldn't find themselves in one of the dodgier neighborhoods of San Fran, where a dumbfounded walk in a park would probably result in robberies of their precious cameras. Just as the Australians turned the corner into a side alley, I heard the familiar sound of flames and glanced up to find Blaze Boy coming down to land, holding the plastic bag and my pair of blue Converse. He dropped to the concrete next to me and thrust the bag and shoes into my arms.
"You're welcome." Blaze Boy retorted, as I didn't thank him for the deed. To be honest, I didn't think I needed to. He just broke into my apartment to get them.
"Yeah yeah. But I've got news for you, I'm not getting changed in the middle of the street." I replied, glaring at him. If looks could kill, Blaze Boy would be well dead by now.
Blaze Boy looked around the street before his eyes rested on the park which I had come from.
Uh oh.
"I hate you for this." I grumbled, whilst tying up the laces of my Converse. From the other side of the bushes, Blaze Boy chuckled.
"Yeah well, desperate times call for desperate measures, Aqua Girl."
Yep, you guessed it. Blaze Boy practically threw me into the borderline bushes of the Mission Dolores park and I changed from my normal clothes into my suit, protected by the large quantity of leaves and the darkness that was slowly cloaking the city.
"That doesn't make this situation any better." I replied, before standing up, tapping the button on my suit and holding out my bundle of clothes that I wasn't wearing. "What am I doing with these?"
"Just leave them here, we'll get them later." Blaze Boy exclaimed, watching my face turn from annoyed to horrified in a few milliseconds.
"But someone's gonna steal them!" I announced, raising my voice in the silent park.
"Oh yeah, someone will want to steal a nerdy t-shirt and leggings from a plastic bag dumped in some bushes at night in the park. Sure."
I replied to his witty comment with a kick in the shins. Reluctantly, I threw the bag into the bushes and slapped my turquoise mask onto my face, wincing as the silk fabric touched and covered the cut below my eye. Still, I guess it was good that it covered that wound, or else someone might recognize me from school with the same cut.
"Let's get going." Blaze Boy declared, warming up his flames by turning them on and off from his hands.
"I'd say we fly low over the Golden Gate bridge. You never know, villains might go out partying on Friday nights."
"Good plan." Blaze Boy said, before expectantly shooting off towards the glowing stars. I faintly heard the words 'catch me if you can!' before I zoomed off after him, with a grin on my face and water blasting from my feet. Soon enough, to my glee, I caught up with Blaze Boy, and much to the dismay of the boy, I shot ahead of him effortlessly as we approached the toll booth for the bridge. I slowed down so I was alongside Blaze Boy, and together we dropped altitude and began flying over the tops of cars. As we approached the middle of the bridge, small flashes appeared from multiple spots on the bridge. I then realized they were camera flashes. Wow. People wanted to take photos of us. Blaze Boy must've seen the shocked look on my face, and told me not to worry.
"You'll get used to it! Strike a pose and they'll love it!" He yelled, trying to be heard over the combined sounds of the wind, his flames, and my water jets. Feeling reckless, I swooped nearer to Blaze Boy, winked, and put the peace sign up as a torrent of flashes erupted into my face. I felt like some sort of famous superstar. Blaze Boy laughed next to me and put the peace sign on his fingers alongside mine, before breaking away and focusing back on flying. Just as we were about to fly over the toll booth on the opposite side of the bridge, there was an almighty crash of lightning. Shoot.
"He's here!" I shouted to Blaze Boy, who was already landing on the asphalt road. I followed suit and landed next to him with a bump as another lightning bolt hit the ground a few mere meters from us. In another flash of light (that certainly wasn't a camera) ElectroNite was suddenly standing before us, his dark purple cape billowing behind him. He looked angry. Very angry.
"How dare you come near my headquarters again, after the previous events!" He roared, as yet another lightning bolt struck the ground nearby.
"Well, it's nice to see you to!" I retorted. ElectroNite's face turned dark.
Oops.
It was probably the wrong time for sarcasm.
