Chapter 18:
It's been exactly a week since Alex Krum came back into my life, and since then, we have become very close again. This time, though, I feel very secure in the fact that our relationship is purely platonic and we both consider each other as nothing more than good friends. Although, when Fred is around, he will regularly hold my hand and kiss me on the cheek. But I do think Fred is getting at least a little jealous, even if he tries not to show it.
Alex and I were sitting out on the still snow-covered Quidditch stands, wrapped in warm clothes with a blanket underneath us and one over our shoulders. We had a great view of the Gryffindor team practising and, according to Torie, they had a great view of us.
Suddenly out of nowhere, a Bludger came flying towards me and Alex. I screamed and Alex jumped up and grabbed the quaffle, pinning it to one of the Quidditch seats as he got a better grip. Then he picked the struggling ball up with two hands and lugged it back into the sky where it zoomed towards a certain red-haired beater. I laughed quietly as Fred glared at Alex. While he was looking, I pecked Alex on the cheek. Fred's face turned red and he hit the bludger so hard that it stopped moving and fell to the ground.
To be perfectly honest, I kind of liked flirting with Alex in front of Fred. Not because it made Fred jealous (even though it did), but because it was fun; almost like a game. We would flirt in public, with casual banter, hugging, kisses on the cheek, and always finding some way to touch each other - whether it was holding hands or simply playful pushes and standing close. To everyone else, I guess we looked like a couple.
This was probably helped by the fact that Alex's charismatic and compelling nature made me always want to laugh and smile. Even George and Torie liked him - and that was saying something seeing as all my friends seemed to have something against each other.
Alex and I were watching the Gryfindor Quidditch team practise, even though there would be no games this year because of the Tri-Wizard tournament, they wanted to keep up their game. But they also let other Gryffindors join so they could play an actual game. Right now, it was Harry, Katie, Angelina, Ginny, Torie, Fred and George versus an assortment of fifth and sixth-year Gryffindors. There was quite a crowd in the stands too. Hermione was sitting with Viktor Krum and a scowling Ron, and had just shot a spell at the immobile bludger that made it fly back up into the air. The game resumed.
Once Harry caught the snitch for the third time, everyone finally decided to finish and go have lunch. I dragged Alex down to wait outside the changing rooms for George and Torie. Although it was the end of winter, I was wearing a mid-thigh length denim skirt with a tight pink bow-back shirt. I also had a lot of makeup on and a heat-spell around me. I wasn't very cold anyway though, because I was pressed up against Alex with his arm over my shoulders.
Angelina, Katie , Harry and Ginny walked out of the changing rooms first, Angelina and Katie glaring at me, Harry smiling and walking past, and Ginny stopping to chat for a few mintues. She also loved Alex. The next person to come out was Fred and, to my surprise, he actually spoke to us - or, well, Alex.
"Has she threatened to feed you to the giant squid yet?" Fred sneered. I was confused and so was Alex.
"Sorry?" Alex asked with a small smile. Fred scowled.
"Well, nothing much will happen between you until she does. That was the first thing she said to me," it was almost like Fred was boasting. But there was a sinister tinge to the edge of his words.
"I'm going to feed you to the giant squid!" I yelled at Alex, jokingly. I mainly did it to annoy Fred.
"That squid can't handle this many flavours of sexy," Alex winked. I laughed. Fred scowled.
Suddenly, I started to get really cold. Not like the cold if you step into the freezer room at the supermarket; the kind of cold where you're standing outside in the middle of a very icy winter in a short skirt and t-shirt and nothing much else and your ex-boyfriend takes your heat spell off you.
"Fred, you dick! Put it back on!" I yelled.
"Put what back on? Proper clothes?" Fred scoffed. I tried not to notice how red my cheeks were probably turning. Then Alex - the smooth bastard - saved me by offering me his coat.
"Such a gentleman!" I laughed.
"Only for you," he countered. I blushed, Fred shot daggers at Alex, and Alex just smirked.
"Nora, babe," Alex said, "Let's go inside now. I'm cold."
"Fine but you can carry me. And take the blame when George and Torie kill us for ditching them."
Alex bent down and I jumped on his back, wrapping my legs around his waist and my arms around his neck (in a very un-sexual way). Fred just looked lonely and slightly jealous and I almost felt bad. But then Alex grabbed my legs and ran all the way back up to the great hall.
AUTHORS NOTE:
Yeah, this was short. BUT IT WAS STILL AN UPDATE! <3
This was mainly to get an idea of Alex and Nora's flirty-but-platonic friendship :)
Vote and Comment and stuff!! <3
