Nervous.

That was the logical way to feel, at least.

We were about to be forced under the influence of a chemical that would change what we see as real and unreal, and put us in a trance of vivid hallucination so strong that we forget that it is a stimulation.

So why was I perfectly calm?

'God, why can't we just get this over and done with?' Said Chelsea, as the third group of people were called in by an Abnegation volunteer. The tests were administrated by volunteers - mainly from Abnegation. There was one Erudite, and one Dauntless, who I the test for the Abnegation sixteen-year-olds, as there was a rule that you couldn't be tested by somebody from your own faction.

Two black-clad Dauntless were called in, and then; 'from Erudite, Chelsea Morell and Melanie Parker.'

We followed the Dauntless towards the exit, as we were supposed to. I would've stayed seated if it were up to me - but it wasn't. Stubbornness wouldn't get me anywhere in these tests, and that was certainly a quality I possessed - which was illogical!

Two Amity, two Candor and two Abnegation followed me and Chelsea through the exit. Waiting for us on the other side of the door were ten rooms. I've never been inside any I them - they were only used for the aptitude tests. 'Meet you back at the Erudite table after,' said Chelsea as she walked into room 3, and I nodded as I walked into room 4. Chelsea looked nervous - but I didn't feel much. Just calm.

An Abnegation woman waited for me in the room. She wore plain, grey clothes, the same as he rest other Abnegation. Her hair was tied back in a tight bun. She stood next to a chair much like one you would find in a dentist's, which stood next to a machine.

The walls of the room were completely covered in mirrors. Looking straight ahead of me, I could see myself reflected in the mirrors at all angles at once. The pale blue shirt that covered my back and front, my black hair that cut of in a perfectly straight line, my bare arms, the jeans that clung to my legs. The Abnegation volunteer who would administer my test never looked up at the mirrors once, as she indicated to the chair, and said, 'Hello, my name is Eve. Please, make yourself comfortable.'

I sat in the chair and reclined, sliding my head into the headrest. Eve went to press an electrode into my head. 'Whats that for?' I asked, bringing a hand up to block her hand from touching the electrode to my head.

'It is so that I can watch and record your stimulation, to determine the faction you are best suited to,' said Eve.

'Okay,' I said, reluctantly dropping my hand, and allowing her to place the first electrode over my head.

'Why do we need to take these tests?' I asked, as she placed the second electrode.

'To determine which faction is best suited for you,' Eve replied.

'But, we choose tomorrow,' I said. 'We don't have to follow what the aptitude test says, we can choose our own faction.'

'The test was created to prevent a scenario where your reactions should eliminate four of the factions. It provides a guideline to which faction suits you best.'

'What if less than four factions are eliminated?' I asked curiously. Definitely not Abnegation - I definitely didn't belong there. I was too curious, which was selfish.

Curiosity was an Erudite trait.

Eve's hands froze over the third electrode, which she was attaching to my head. But, she quickly recovered. 'That rarely happens,' she said, in a tone that told me that I shouldn't ask anything else about it. So it sometimes happened - but it was something to fear.

'Drink this,' she said, handing me a vial of clear liquid once she had finished attaching electrodes to my head.

'What's going to happen?' I asked, not taking the vial.

'I'm not allowed to tell you that.'

'Then why should I drink it?'

'I apologise, but I am not allowed to let you refuse to take the test,' said Eve. 'I am not trying to be selfish -'

'No,' I cut her off. 'I'm being selfish.' I took the vial and drank the liquid.

Everything went dark...
