Nathan and I stood there for what could have been seconds, minutes, hours... I didn't know. Time didn't exist. Only his body pressed against mine, my arms around his neck, his holding on to my back.

We only broke apart when we heard the door opening. We sprang apart quickly and saw Chelsea and Ross. Their faces broke into smiles, and the bounded into the room, applauding us and cheering. Ross closed the door, and Chelsea came and hugged me.

'Umm, guys?' I said, and Chelsea let me go.

Mine and Nathan's cheeks were flushed with pink, mainly from embarrassment. Our eyes met again, and we looked away awkwardly, but it wasn't a bad awkward. It was more of a secretive sensation.

'Aww, sorry to interrupt,' said Chelsea.

'But we've been waiting for you guys to do that since the beginning,' Ross finished for her.

I rolled my eyes. Typical Chelsea.

I don't know what I'd do without her.

'So, can we call you Melthan now?' She said.

I looked to Nathan to answer. 'Why not?' He said, his eyes not shifting from mine for even a second, and we smiled.

For the next three days, we used the simulation to create scenes in which we had to detect lies and avoid lying ourselves. I was careful to better hide my Divergence.

At the end of the week, we were to find out our placings. After the first section of the Initiation, we would be put into places according to how well we have done over the past week. Nobody was automatically eliminated from Initiation from being at the bottom of the list, as they were in a Dauntless, but, after Initiation, we would choose where we worked in the order in which we were placed.

After dinner, we were to go back to the training room, where we would join the Candor-born initiates. Tristan and Tom were standing in front of a blackboard that rested against their legs, facing so that we couldn't see what was written on it.

When everyone was in the room, Tom spoke.

'Please, don't kill each other trying to read your names.'

And they flipped the board around so that we could read it.
