Alex's POV:
Alexander's adoptive father, George Washington, was deadly sick. He knew that much. However, since his adoptive mother already passed, George was on the hunt for a new family for him to go to after he passes too. He doesn't HAVE to get married, but to keep Alex from going back into the foster system he is willing to. And that's how they ended up here: a small wedding ceremony between his adoptive father and his now stepfather and stepbrothers. Apparently Alex needed a male role model in his life so that's why it wasn't a new mother. Not that Alex has any problem with gay people, especially considering he's Bi himself, it's just that he knows Washington is as straight as a ruler-I mean he IS married to Martha who he still loves very much and is only getting remarried for Alex's sake.

Thud.

Alex as startled out of his thoughts by screams and rushing. Thankfully he caught on quick and realized the thud was Washington who apparently collapsed. He's smart enough to know that that it's not because Father was drinking, mainly because George never drinks. That's how Alex knew it was the last few moments. Rushing over to him as quickly as possible, Alex tries to comfort George knowing he was in pain.

"Shh, it's okay dad, I'm here. No...no don't talk...j-just save your strength....yeah...save your strength and stay alive." He knew it was dorky but hey what can he say, that's Alex's style. His style is also research, which he did a lot of, and he remembers reading somewhere that to make a dying person more comfortable to say familiar lines that they found important or something....what's that thing he used to do when I was little? Oh right! "Un, duex, trois, quatre, cinq, six, sept, huit, neuf..."

Through a pained smile George starts repeating it back to Alex about halfway through. "Good. Un, duex, trois, quatre, cinq, six, sept, huit, neuf.....sept, huit, neuf?...sept, huit..." By now Alex realized that he had stopped repeating it back and that the reception room had grown to quiet. Alex never liked the quiet before but right now it was kind of soothing....

<Time skip brought to you by not so subtle references.>

It's been a week since father passed and they all moved uptown and Alex hated every minute of it. Thomas had insisted they move out so they wouldn't be reminded of George but of course that was exactly why Alex wanted to stay. At least Thomas let him have the grave in the massive backyard which was where he was currently heading.

"Call me son one more time...please...I miss you..." and he did. He was the closest thing to family Alex ever had. For a while after he adopted him, Alex hated when he called him son because he reserved the term for his real father in his mind but now all he wants is to have his Father call him son again.

"HAMILTON!"

"Sorry father, I gotta go...I'll be back I promise..." it's not that Alex wanted to leave but if he didn't Thomas would only give him more work. He already has a to do list of over 51 things that he needs to write for the dude. Ugggghhhh. Better go see what he wants.
