John's POV:
The ball was in full swing...do people still say that?...and John was required to greet every. Fucking. Guest. Once they were introduced. Unfortunately, that meant he had to greet Thomas Jefferson and Prince George. Honestly the ball was boring as fuck, the best part was watching James Madison and Eliza dance together while Thomas seethes in the corner. Everyone thinks she likes him but to be honest she only pretends to so that she can piss off Jefferson. Best sister ever.

"Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you..." Every. Single. Guest.

"Don't worry, Jacky boy. You'll find a wife tonight!" Father walks up behind John and rests his hand on his shoulder.

"Doubt it...I'mgayIdon'tevenlikegirls..." He mumbles the last bit, Dad can't know.

"What was that?"

"Oh, um, I said: 'Don't count on that. I don't even like to dance.'" Nailed it.

"Well, your gonna have to find someone to dance wi-" Dad cuts himself off and stares at the top of the stairs along with everyone else here. John directs his gaze up as well as a hush falls over the crowd. Everyone just stares in awe at the newcomer. Although, John stares at him in more of a oh damn he's hawt kinda way rather than awe. The dude was just looking around at everyone; he probably wasn't expecting everyone to stare at him. After a few more seconds in silence, it is broken by a whisper and then everyone else joins in questioning:

"Oh. My. God."

"He's so hot."

"Who is he?"

"That outfit!"

"He's sparkling?"

"I don't trust him."

"How old is he?"

"He looks familiar?"

"He's definitely a government operative."

"That would be stupid, the government doesn't care about us that much."

"Is he single?"

People continued to gawk and ask questions as he descended down the stairs. He plants a kiss on a hand of each Sister before making his way over to John. OMG HES COMING OVER! HE MUST LIKE ME! Wait, no. No. It's just because I'm royalty and it IS my ball. He's just showing respect... He goes from internally screaming to internally sighing. Father left after the first person spoke saying he was to go to bed since he already met all his possible future daughter-in-laws, which is why John was so confident.

"Hello, your highness." He gives a slight bow and shakes his hand firmly, making John's stomach do acrobatics.

"Hello...would you like to dance...?"*

"Why thank you, your highness."* Score.  Okay so he either likes me or he's afraid to say no since I'm royalty. Eh, who cares, I'm still dancing with a cute boy.

"I must warn you, I'm not very good."*

"Me neither, but we can try!"*

The ball continued on and they just kept dancing. Other girls tried to get the Prince's attention but he wasn't interested. Eventually, they somehow made their way out to the Royal Garden just talking and laughing and getting to know each other. When they head back inside, John realizes how late it has gotten. He thought tonight would be really boring and long but he guesses what they say is true: time flies when your having an adorable guy giving you heart palpitations. Apparently it flies too fast for the cutie.

"Oh my...I gotta go...!"

"What? Why? Please stay...?"

"...I can't..." He seemed to think about it a little before giving his response. The boy appeared to be getting more anxious by the second. He looks toward the clock again, back toward John with a sympathetic look, and then makes a dash toward the palace doors. By the time John catches up, he was already halfway down the front steps.

"WAIT! Can I at least get your name?" John pauses at the top, reaching out to him.He doesn't think he was loud enough because the young man didn't react. He did, however, falter on a step, aww smol clumsy baby, and John was kinda nervous he would fall and hurt himself. He can't fall, I still need to seduce him! A breath of relief is drawn from John as he regains his footing. During his rush in doing so he ends up losing a...

AN: If you couldn't tell, when it comes to the "Cinderella" parts of the story, it'll be a mix of parts from Disney's original cartoon version and the live-action remake.

*Before you judge or say "that was fast", these are the exact quotes from Disney's cartoon version. Plus, I added stuff in between, the script goes from her entering to this, so no, I AM NOT MOVING TO FAST...at least not as fast as I could be.
