Hello fellow fangirls/fanboys! orry for the wait but I'm back again with another chapter, I hope it isn't too short or rushed as I have been completely out of ideas recently.
So I hope you enjoy!
Key: Y/N= Your Name F/C= Favourite Colour Y/W= Your Weapon
Your POV:
The cave is bustling with happiness and laughter, until the mission alert rings and breaks through the carefree atmosphere. Everyone immediately rushes to change out of their casual attire into their super suits, as I do the same and change into my own personalised super suit with F/C additions and a mask to hide my identity.
Once everyone is finished changing, we all pile onto the Bioship and takeoff in the direction of our next mission. Although the whole ride we had to endure Wally's failed attempts at humour and trying to get Miss Martian's attention. Although his love for her was painfully obvious, his terrible flirting wouldn't cease until he reaches his goal of gaining some sort of affection from the green skinned girl.
Although, her love for Superboy is also painfully obvious, to some of us at least.
When we finally reach our destination, we silently exit the ship onto a rooftop just above where several armed thugs are supposedly selling illegal and very dangerous toxins. Half of the men there seem to be the suppliers, and the other half are the buyers.
We're all lying low on the cold concrete rooftop, with the mental link established, silently listening in on their conversation and waiting for when we make our move.
"It's your call Aqualad, give the signal and we attack" I say mentally.
"Not yet, let's see if we can extract any more information before we reveal ourselves" Aqualad responds.
"And let the toxins be handed over so easily? No way" Kid Flash adds mentally and disappears before anyone can object.
"Great" Superboy sighs mentally.
Then we see Kid causing a distraction below, his idiocy almost getting him killed.
"There goes our element of surprise" I sigh, clearly pissed off.
Then we all drop from the rooftop and begin fighting off the thugs. I engage combat with one and successfully take him down, but I begin to be circled by three more. Continuing to stand my ground, I use my Y/W and take them down as quickly and easily as possible.
As I'm fighting off the last thug, I don't notice a previously unconscious one from behind, as he creeps up behind me. Then out of my peripheral vision, I finally notice him and turn to take him down once more, but I completely forgot about the thug I was just fighting. Just for a second, I see a flash of pink on his blade before it pierces painfully and deeply into the skin across my right arm.
I yelp and quickly finish him off, making sure they're both unconscious. Then I hiss as I hold the cut to stop it from bleeding, but the crimson liquid continues to drip down my arm.
While the team is distracted I tear a piece of my uniform off and tie it securely around my wound, hopefully no one notices and I can fix it up better when I get home, no questions asked. When the others have all successfully defeated the rest of the thugs, we lifted the crates of toxins into the Bioship and called the local services to collect the thugs and take them to prison.
For the rest of the ride back to the cave, everyone was to engaged in the victory of the mission to notice my wound that is continuously staining my makeshift bandage red. Reaching the cave, we unpacked the toxins for Batman to inspect and all went our separate ways.
I took this opportunity to rush to the infirmary and re-bandage my wound as well as adding some anti-septic to it, which hurt really badly. After getting rid of all the bloody mess and old bandage, I heard Batman's monotone voice over the speaker in the infirmary, requesting the team's presence in the mission room immediately.
After reaching the mission room, the team is already gathered in a group waiting for Batman to begin.
"Good work on your mission today, you successfully took down the enemy and brought back a whole supply of the new deadly toxins. From the samples collected, I have managed to extract some important information about these toxins" Batman explains and shows us a holographic report about the toxin.
"It is a pink, life-threatening substance, but don't let the colour fool you. It is extremely deadly and causes severe burning pain on the body once applied, and is excruciatingly painful for the host. Side effects are; hallucinations, intense migraines, convulsing, drastic body temperatures, and these are only some of the side effects discovered so far" Batman describes.
Hearing the report on the toxin causes me to instinctively reach my hand up to the wound on my arm.
"Is there a cure?" I ask hesitantly.
Then everyone's attention turns towards me as I desperately await an answer.
"We're still investigating the toxin to see if there is, but as of now it is still to be discovered" Batman replies solemnly.
I nod my head as he dismisses us, everyone departing back to their homes or their rooms for the night. Feeling my throat run dry, I move to the kitchen to grab a glass of water and I gulp it down quickly as my whole body begins to tense and sweat with worry.
If the dagger I was cut with was laced with that toxin, my life could possibly be in danger. Then I chuckle at how stressed I am about something that scares me so much I think it could be true. I usually stress out in situations where I overthink things, but it always turns out okay in the end.
Instead, I shrug off my tense attitude and try to calm my twisted gut feeling, along with wiping the sweat dripping endlessly from my forehead. Then I realised how hot it was and decided to head to my room and change into a singlet and pyjama shorts, and I climbed into bed pulling up my thin sheet and nothing else.
After about ten minutes of tossing and turning, my body is beginning to burn with heat as I tear the sheet away from my body and breathe as evenly as I can. Then it occurred to me...
It's the middle of winter and it's probably under zero degrees outside.
My eyes widen as my fears are proven correct and I clutch my wound as my entire body rages like a burning fire and the wound burns. Then my vision begins to blur and a splitting headache hits me like a tsunami. I slowly stand up on my wobbly feet, only to fall back down again. The whole world spins and I feel my strength draining with every passing second.
"Help" I whisper, before I completely lose consciousness.
Time Skip
A drowned out beeping slowly becomes louder and louder, and I slowly peel my eyes open. I notice I'm staring at a blank white ceiling and looking around the room, I notice the familiar room of the infirmary in the cave.
Then I remember getting cut by the land blade and falling unconscious in my room, and I look at my wound to see it with a fresh bandage and a small blood stain. That's when I notice the strange, warm weight on my stomach, which is the red head of Wally West.
Out of anyone, the last person I expected to see was this thick-headed idiot sleeping soundly on the bed. Instead of waking him up I simply stoked his hair and kissed his freckled cheek.
Well, turns out it wasn't as short as I thought it would be. Also, if you found that the ending was too abrupt, I apologise but I didn't know how else to end it.
So long fellow fangirls/fanboys! Until next time!
