Chapter 16:

Mer: Al-Alex?!
Alex: yea, I'm here. Don't act like you knew I wasn't going to come back... You know me better than I know myself and I should have listened to you when you told me to stay and I'm sorry.
Mer: what happened?!

*flashback*

Alex and Wilson were at Joes bar having some beers. It was really late and yet were still at the bar. They were having a conversation (while drink) and in this conversation they started to admit things to each other...

Alex: I quit my job for you. Isn't that crazy?! Like I'm Dr. Karev! I don't quit for no one, especially for a girl
( Wilson and Alex start laughing)
Wilson: I cheated on you with Shane. ( starts laughing) Shane! The screw-up intern. (Continues laughing)

When Alex heard this smile turned into a frown and immediately stopped laughing. Alex was drunk but could still understand what was going on.

Alex: You WHAT?!
Wilson: (stops laughing) I, um slept with Shane while I was with you...
Alex: SHANE?! Out of all people SHANE?!
Wilson: look, Alex. I'm sorry!
Alex: I quit my job for you. I ruined my life for some stupid girl. Some girl I actually thought loved me and I saw a future of US. No, I'm sorry for being in your way of finding the guy of your dreams. Obviously I couldn't give you what you wanted but Shane can. ( Alex leaves the bar)

* end of flashback*

Alex: She cheated on me. I don't really wanna talk about it. Maybe we can talk about it after work or something just not here, not now.
Mer: yea, that's fine. You can come over after work.

*after work*

Mer: so, do you wanna tell me what happened?
Alex: we were at Joes and we both were drunk. Well we were saying stupid things and she told me that she cheated on me with Shane. She thought I was totally wasted but I wasn't I knew what I was saying.
Mer: it's ok, Alex. She's not the one.
Alex: but that's the thing. I really thought she was the one. I got this feeling every time I saw her. It was the feeling I had with Izzy. The feeling like you know you've found the one. Jo reminded me alot like Izzy. No one will ever be exactly like Izzy but Jo was pretty close.
Mer: you miss Izzy.
Alex: like crazy. It's been years but EVERYTHING reminds me of her. She was the perfect girl for me, she was the only one that understood me.
Mer: she understood everyone, especially you.
Alex: Mer, your the only one I've said this to. Out of everyone at the hospital, your the one that I trust the most and I let you down. I didn't believe you because I loved Jo and your supposed to stick up for the person you love right? Well, I'm sorry Mer.
Mer: Alex, you don't need to be sorry. We all make mistakes. We all do something stupid for the person we love. It takes time to realize who you want to spend the test of you life with. Example, Derek and I. We've known each other for a very long time and it took along time for me to trust him and for me to realize he was the one I wanted. You and Wilson, just met and you guys were moving really fast. I you want to have a long lasting relationship you have to take things slow.
Alex: yea, your right. It's getting pretty late, I better get going.
Mer: since when do you care how late it is? You got a date or something?
Alex: well actually, I'm meeting someone at the bar.
Mer: it's not Wilson is it?!
Alex: no way.
Mer; okay, we'll I'm looking forward to meeting this 'mystery girl'
Alex: she's not a 'mystery girl'. (Alex leaves Meredith's house)!
