The first night ends with the class holding a bonfire out on the terrace. Unfortunately, the rain had continued on after they arrived, so they had to cancel their outdoor plans for the day due to the inclement weather. Instead, they stayed inside, occupying the large ballroom to play games and chit chat. Luckily, the staff were kind enough to let them know about the fire pits out on the terrace that were covered throughout the day, dry and ready for usage.
The classes made s'mores, told lame jokes, and Donghyun garners lots of attention for the story he tells about demons who follow you, waiting for the time your guard is down, and attacks you for your soul. It sounds incredibly realistic, and Hana thinks the way he describes the monsters is absolutely terrifying; they were supposedly huge, a big blob of black slime that can shapeshift into a solid, mimicking a tall body with a large torso and stomach, lanky limbs and a head with red eyes, exhaling black smoke.
She shrinks back into her seat, holding her hands up to her face, because knowing Donghyun, he was about to jump and scream at those listening to his story to scare them. She braces for it, hands shaking as he waits for a dramatic pause, then-
"Boo!"
Hana screams, slumping into her chair and then onto her knees. She collapses onto her bottom, half-crying, half-laughing as she pulls her knees up to her chest. She glares at Hayoon who was standing behind her, looking like she's about to pee her pants laughing.
"Kang Hayoon, I'm going to get you back!" Hana yells, rushing to her feet and desperately trying to run after her but eventually gives up, panting heavily as she returns to her seat, where Donghyun is now standing by. He's laughing quietly, welcoming her back. "Glad to see your soul hasn't left your body." He teases.
Hana playfully raises a fist at him. "You're the one that would have caused it if it did."
"I take pride in how articulate my stories are." He thumps his chest, then laughs again. "C'mon, I'll make you a s'more."

Later that night, despite how terrifying Donghyun's stories were, Hana was drawn out by the beautiful city lights. They sparkle and flicker, illuminating a skyline that Hana can admire from her view on the terrace. It isn't a view she sees often while living in the suburbs, so she takes the time to appreciate it now.
"What are you doing out here?" A voice asks from behind her. She jumps, yelping as she turns around, hand following through to hit whoever it was, but a hand catches her wrist midair. Instead of some creep, she sees Woojin standing there with furrowed brows. "Why so timid?"
"Oh my God, Woojin, you scared the living shit out of me." Hana gasps, placing her free hand above her racing heart. He releases her wrist, chuckling. "Not quite sure if I did because you're still alive."
She sinks to the ground, back against the clear glass panel of the railing. "What are you doing out here?"
Woojin crouches next to her, staring out at the city lights. "I finished the check-ins and was gonna head to the convenience store because I wanted ice cream."
She turns her head to look at him with a growing smile. "Park Woojin sneaking out at night?"
He scoffs, "I'm not sneaking out. I deserve it after all the work I did today."
"Well, you better hurry on and back before I tell Mr. Kim." She jokes, reaching out to poke his shoulder. He sways to the side, eyes going momentarily wide as he regains his balance.
Hana muffles a laugh into her arm. He was quite cute when he's caught off-guard.
Woojin gets up to lean his arms against the railing. "What are you doing out here?" He asks, glancing down at her once.
"I liked the lights; they're pretty. And I like the smell the bonfire leaves behind." She murmurs, digging her nose into the windbreaker Woojin gave her earlier today. It smells like burning wood now, but there was still the faint scent of what she thinks could be Woojin's cologne. She smiles, hiding it behind the jacket. Whatever cologne it was, she liked it.
Woojin suddenly starts to walk away, and she watches him go for a few seconds before she scrambles up to her feet, calling out after him. "Woojin!"
He turns around, lips slightly parted, eyes showing slight annoyance, but are questioning.
"Can I come too?" She jogs over to stand before him. "I'm sort of in the mood for ice cream now."
"Kim Hana sneaking out at night?" He mimics her from earlier. She makes a face, pulling the sleeves of his jacket over her fingers. "I was just joking-"
"I was teasing you. Let's go before our roommates start to wonder where we are." He inerjects, jerking his head in the direction of the exit.
It's quite cold on the way to the convenience store. She and Woojin walk side-by-side in a comfortable silence, admiring how down one block, the city is still wide awake and bustling, but on the road they're walking, it's quiet with only a few neon signs that still glow this late at night, reading OPEN.
As soon as they arrive, they head toward the freezer, looking down at the ice cream. Hana suddenly frowns, unable to choose between the drumstick ice cream or a regular ice cream sandwich. She whines, looking at the ice cream sadly, hands placed on the glass. "I can't choose which one to get."
"Buy both." Woojin mumbles, nudging her over to open the door and grab his choice: a container of Dippin' Dots.
"Aw, man, that looks good too!" She cries in a dilemma, watching Woojin move to the counter to pay.
The cashier casts her a silent look of judgement because he's never seen a grown student cry over which ice cream to eat at nearly midnight. Woojin quietly sighs, walking over and grabbing all three of the ice creams she was having a crisis over and brings it back to the counter.
Her mouth drops, and she looks at Woojin with a growing smile on her face. He looks at her once and then looks down at his wallet, pulling out money to pay for all the desserts. "Woojin-ah!" She cries, running over to him with a huge grin and shaking his arm back and forth, extremely touched. "Thank you!"
He looks at her uncomfortably and shifts to the side. "Sure." He nods, handing her the plastic bag. "Hold on to these, I need to go use the bathroom first."
She beams. "Okay! I'll go wait outside then!" She points at the doors and skips out.
Who would have ever thought Park Woojin was kind enough to buy her not one, but three ice creams? Maybe he didn't hate her as much as she thought after all.
