~Author's Note~
Not that many chapters left! Thank you guys so so much for reading! I already have plans for another Buckin story, hopefully not as long as this one lol. But I truly do appreciate every vote and comment, and I promise that I read all read all the comments, even if I don't reply to all of them.

Also, I used this version of the song because it's my favorite song, and even though nothing will ever out do the album version, this is the original and it comes VERY close, if only for the altered line in the second verse. :)

Time spent away from Jonny quickly became the long, grueling hours that Chris dreaded every day. Only time spent with his kids made up for it.

He'd been very careful with his phone calls to Jonny, since Gwenyth didn't know about them yet and he wasn't quite ready to tell her. He wasn't sure what to expect from her. They hadn't officially divorced yet, so telling her that him and Jonny were already a couple may not be such a hot idea.

However, there was one week where she'd be taking the kids to meet her new boyfriend, and the opportunity presented itself. The previous night, Jonny had encouraged him to tell her, as they both knew that she'd been so good to him, even despite their divorce, and he figured that she'd support him through this, too. After all, she had a boyfriend now, so why couldn't he?

"Is it alright if I take the kids to meet my new boyfriend next week? I really like him, and I want the kids to warm up to him," she asked him.

Chris smiled warmly and took a deep breath. "Of course, but... only if I can take the week to go see mine."

Gwen smiled. "Of course! Take the week and make it yours!" She didn't get it.

Chris cleared his throat. "Gwen?"

"Hmm?"

"Didn't you hear me?"

"Of course I did! You asked if you could take the week to go see your girlfriend."

Chris shook his head. "No, I asked if I could go see my boyfriend."

Gwenyth didn't move.

"Gwen?"

"Oh my god... is that why we didn't work? Are you gay? Was our entire relationship a lie?" The confusion in her eyes turned to anger and bitterness very quickly, and Chris instantly felt afraid.

"Of course not! Everything I felt for you was real."

"How can I believe you after you left your kids, left me to go be with some bloke!?" She screamed.

Chris hushed her. "Don't wake the kids," he begged. "Look we can discuss this all over a cup of tea if you want. I've got all night."

So, Chris admitted to Gwenyth the feelings that he'd felt for Jonny back at Uni, and how they'd dated, but when they broke up, Chris was devastated and wanted to be in a real relationship, settle down and have a family. He had fallen in love with her, willing to have her kids. It wasn't until around 2011 he began requestioning his decisions, his old feelings returning for Jonny. It may have caused their own relationship to falter, for which he apologized, but he did not want to end it on bad terms or end it simply because of his feelings. He had wanted to make sure that the feelings of divorce were mutual and that she indeed felt the same way he did about their relationship. No, he did not force Jonny to divorce Chloe. Yes, he did think that the children should know. No, they did not plan to keep their relationship secret forever.

"Any more questions?" Chris asked after a very long conversation. He hadn't realized how old he was until that night.

Gwenyth shook her head. "Thank you for sharing this with me. I'll do my best to keep it secret, at least until you're willing to let everyone know."
