"Jay! Wait up!" I yelled, running up to him. He turned to me and smiled. "Hey, Vee. It's been a while." he noted, crossing his arms. "That's what I wanted to talk to you about. Let's hang out, play video games." I suggested. He laughed and nodded. "Sure, come by my room in an hour." he said before waving and walking away. That went pretty well. I decided to go catch up with Evie to kill the time. She was sewing away in her room and was dying to gossip.
I knocked on her door, and I smiled as Doug opened it. "Hey! Is the queen in her sewing chair?" I asked with a laugh. "That she is." he nodded, closing the door behind me. "Evie! Do I have things to tell you." I giggled, plopping down on the chair next to her. "Should I go for this, or?" asked Doug, scratching his head. "You're fine!" I laughed. "Evie, Harry kissed me yesterday." I admitted, blushing. She immediately stopped what she was doing and turned to me, eyes wide.
"You're kidding. Oh my god, how was it?" she wondered excitedly. "It was really great. He was being really open and sweet yesterday, and then he just kissed me out of nowhere. He goes from being flirty to sincere and it's like way too much for me." I rambled, putting my head in my hands. "You like him." she giggled, clapping her hands. "Evie, he has me in the palm of his hand. I'm so overwhelmed when he's around, but he's also genuinely not who I thought he was gonna be. When we talk, it's like he lets his guard down." I explained. "Well, he obviously likes you too. Why don't you make it official?" she teased.
"I mean, I don't know if he's just being flirty." I reasoned, shaking my head. Evie resumed her sewing and pursed her lips. "Okay, but kissing you is past the point of flirting." Doug interjected. "I agree." said Evie over the loud noise of the sewing machine. "It's like, I can't get him out of my mind. He's all I think about." I admitted with a sigh. "You need closure. Date him or not, you'll go insane if you don't talk to him about it." said Evie. "I've never felt like this before. I don't know what to do, how to act, what to say." I stressed. "Be yourself. It paid off in my case." said Doug, looking over at Evie lovingly. She blushed and blew him a kiss.
"I think I'm gonna go talk to him." I relented, standing from the chair. They both wished me luck as I exited her room, turning right and walking down the hall towards Harry's door. I knocked lightly, and he opened it pretty quickly. "Vee, come in." he said, opening the door wider. I walked in under his outstretched arm and bit my lip nervously. "So, I think we should maybe talk about yesterday." I said, scratching the back of my neck. "About that, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have kissed you." he apologized, sitting down on the edge of his bed. "Don't be sorry." I answered, shifting my feet uncomfortably. "Vee, we would never work." he sighed, running his hands through his hair.
I crossed my arms, raising an eyebrow. "And that's just something you decided? Why the hell did you kiss me, then?" I challenged. "I wasn't thinking. A princess deserves a prince, not a pirate." he said, looking down at the edge of his bed. I walked up to him, standing in between his legs, and took his chin, forcing him to look up at me. "You're all I want, princes are overrated. Plus, I've kinda got a thing for pirates." I joked, making him smile. "I can't be something I'm not, love." he admitted, biting his lip. "I'm not scared of you, Harry. Give me a chance." I whispered, stroking his cheek with my thumb. I leaned down and pressed my lips against his. He kissed me back, wrapping his arms around me. He laid back, pulling me down with him. I pulled away from the kiss and giggled, poking his nose.
"I'll take that as a yes?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. "I'm yours." he mumbled, pecking my lips lightly. My heart fluttered as the words left his lips. For once, I didn't feel like putty in his hands. "I have to meet up with Jay in like 40 minutes, so I have some time to kill." I said, running thumb over his bottom lip. He smirked and wrapped his muscular arms around me. "I guess you're lucky that I'm pretty good at distractions." he mumbled, making me blush. He met my lips with his, rubbing my back as he did so. Everything felt safe when I was in his arms, and I really didn't care what other people would think.

I clutched the controller in my hand and groaned in frustration as Jay beat me for the third time in a row. "You've lost your edge, Vee." he laughed, putting down his controller. "I'm literally so ashamed." I joked, covering my face with my hands. "It's an embarrassment." he joked along, poking my side. "So, how are things with Lonnie?" I asked, leaning back in my chair. "Things are actually really good. We're taking it kinda slow, but I really like her." he admitted with a blush. "You guys are a literal power couple. I love it." I giggled, looking down at my feet. "Yeah, she's a badass." he nodded thoughtfully. "How are you handling both tourney and fencing?" I wondered, pulling my hair up into a bun.
"You know, it was a lot harder before Lonnie took over as captain. It's getting kinda busy. I have to jump from practice to practice, but I love both and don't want to give it up." he explained, running his hand through his hair. "Well, if anyone can do it, you can." I encouraged him with a smile. "What about you? Whats up with you and Harry? I saw you guys at the garden party together." he said, crossing his arms. "Jay, I know you don't approve regardless of what our situation is." I answered, shaking my head. "Look, I'm trying to give the guy a chance. He's great at fencing and he apologized to me." he noted. "We're together." I admitted, looking down shyly. "You're the first person to know. that it's official" I continued. "I hope he doesn't hurt you, Vee. I'm trying to stay positive for you." he mumbled. It was progress, a step in the right direction. Jay would be giving Harry a chance. I finally felt like being with Harry wouldn't tear me apart from my friends, and I was so relieved.
