chapter 24 - the end

It's crazy retelling my time at Auradon Prep. It changed me for the better. Not only did I meet the people I would love more than anything, but I met the man I would spend the rest of my life with. We all grew so much and everything fell right into place. I guess I should start by telling you how much everyone changed, what happened to everyone since school ended. It was definitely quite the wild ride, but we made it. I'll start with the least of the friendly faces.

Jack ended up in prison for sexual assault. He messed with a girl whose father was one of the court judges and he was sent to jail for life. It's an amazing feeling knowing that I'll never have to deal with him again. Chad Charming grew up to be his exact same self. He had evolved to flirting with people younger than us because no one would give him the time of day. He was still a flirty bachelor, with not much boosting his chances other than his money and looks. Maybe he'll meet someone as shallow as himself one day.

Jay is the coach for the tourney team at Auradon Prep. The former coach retired and willingly gave Jay the job. He's doing really well, and the team's record is the best it had ever been. He comes over a lot for dinner, and hearing all of his stories is one of my favorite things. Jay will always be one of my closest friends, and I'll keep him close to my heart forever. He did end up with Lonnie after all, once they sorted out their issues. They had a little girl who's already showing lots of promise on the fencing front.

Carlos is also doing pretty well. He runs a veterinary hospital with a specialization in dogs with Jane. She keeps all the books in order and makes sure everything runs smoothly. They were the first from the group to actually get hitched. They have three kids, all boys, that are wild and love to prank each other. They also have four dogs, but the number had grown throughout the years so I'm sure more furry friends will be added to the family soon.

Mal and Ben stayed together in the long run. For a minute there, she was unsure about the media exposure they received and if she could handle it, but they ultimately stayed together and got married. They had the whole royal wedding deal, and the entire kingdom of Auradon was entranced with their storybook happily ever after. It was a really fun wedding, and I was glad she had chosen me to be a bridesmaid. They had twins, a boy and girl, who now were the most troublesome of all of the kids. They're always around and being mischievous, but they have really caring spirits.

Evie ended up buying her own castle, but she realized that she didn't need all the space and downsized to a very nice mansion. Her and Doug eloped on a beach overseas, and I have honestly never seen two people so in love. They're expecting their first child and it's all super exciting. Evie opened up a literal fashion empire once we left school. She designs dresses for all the high profile celebrities across the kingdom, as well as around the world. People crowd around to get a custom Evie couture. She had made a more affordable line and sent it all to the Isle to help girls who want to be stylish but don't have the means to do so.

I became Evie's head manager. I'm in charge of all of her designs, all of her inventory, and all of her clients. It's a really stressful job, but I love it a lot. It's something I can put all of my energy into and it's something I really enjoy. I've gotten to style celebrities first hand, spoken on behalf of the company at interviews, and travelled across the world with Evie. She's my best friend in the whole world and I'm so happy to have her by my side. While we see each other a lot at work, we have weekly dinners at her place because she loves to cook.

Harry struggled with finding something he wanted to do after school. He had focused all of his energy into fencing at school. He started working at a boat shop just to do something, but he ended up loving it a lot. The owner eventually handed it to Harry once he retired, and now Harry owned the business itself. He had evolved it into a high end boat shop with everything you'd need, from mechanics and shopping, to fishing line and apparel. Business was really booming, and we took advantage and took boats out all the time on the water.

Our favorite dates were out on the water, eating dinner and drinking wine as the sunset cast a golden glow over the ocean. While Harry and I weren't perfect, and we did fight a lot, but we ended up staying together. We never really got married because it wasn't something we thought we needed to do. We're partners, soulmates, and that's enough for us. We have two big dogs, a brown labradoodle named Cleo and a golden retriever named Echo. We didn't have any kids because it was never something that interested us. My sister had a ton of kids and being their aunt was enough.

Overall, life is pretty good. Most of us are really happy in our lives, and we've stayed in contact after all of these years. I've loved telling you the story of my high school experience. It's not very common, but looking back on those years makes me realize how great they really were. I hurt a lot during that time, but I've become the person I am today because of it. I've gotta run, Harry's taking me out to this small island an hour away to go cliff diving. I hope you enjoyed my story, and I hope you can learn your own lessons from it. Nothing is ever perfect, but happiness is never too far away.
