Opal gazed at the moon, windows wide open, the scent of fresh new soil after the rain passed. Opal's favorite thing was the moon, because it was outside and open, free. Although Opal had grey eyes the same color, the moon being free was the complete opposite of what Opal was.
She was always cooped up in her room, playing with her biological brothers. Opal's mother and father were both alcoholics, and would abuse them. Opal got sick of it and reported them to the police. As much as she hated to, reporting her only parents that raised her until she was 9 years or age, it was a painful but right decision. Soon after that a nearby orphanage took all three of them in and they lived a descent life until this night. Opal would love to take stroller rides with her twin brothers Aspen and Ash. The mirrored twins looked beautiful next to each other, although they were both blind in the opposite eye. The eye the same color as the moon, although they couldn't see through it. Aspen, the eldest of the twins right eye' was grey while the other was honey colored. The opposite with Ash. Opal always thought God made them like that so they can see the world for each other on each side. Or, it was a nice thought at least.
So, Opal put the twins in a stroller and walked with them. "Oh, I forgot their bag!" She yelped running back inside to get it. That one mistake she made, leaving the twins outside for a split 2 seconds, was the biggest mistake in her life she would never live down to. Opal ran up to her room and grabbed the bag off the floor, but as she did the windows shattered as a green tinted light flashed down to the first floor in front of her. Opal panicked tripping down the stairs as she regretted leaving her only family alone outside, not watching over them. "Shit shit shit!" Opal cursed as she fumbled down the last steps. By the time she was outside whipping her head from side to side, searching every corner, and lastly checked the sky. A gigantic spaceship's bottom gate closed as she saw the last of her twin brothers blazing red hair being enclosed by the bottom and absorbing them into the ship. She ran as fast as she could screaming their names desperately. "ASPEN, ASH!!!" She ran even faster this time, not even knowing where she was. What monsters. What kind of cruel creatures would steal the only family she had?! "BRING THEM BACK!!!" Opal demanded, but it was no use. In a blink of an eye the ship was gone, and it almost seemed like a dream. Tears poured from her face as she kept yelling "come back," until it was barely a whisper. The taste of salty tears and everything blurry, she didn't know where she was, thus running so far away from the orphanage. No, she didn't want to go back. She couldn't bear thinking of the place where her brothers were at peace and they were finally happy all together. How could she?
