Chapter 3
I woke up with talking echoing threw the cave. I became alert and sat up. Memories from last night flooded back into my head. I hope Emily's alright.
'Emily?' I asked threw our mind link. No matter how far you are with someone your mind linked with, you will always be able to talk.
'Oh Laila! I thought you..." She trailed off
'No I'm fine, are you?'
'Yes'
'Where are you?' I asked
'At the pack house'
'Have they hurt you?'
'No and Emily, they won't ever hurt me. The alpha is my mate' She said getting quiet at the end. I stayed quiet and she her out of my head. I knew this would happen eventually just not so soon. I noticed the voices getting louder as they neared the entrance of the cave. I didn't smell wolf in them so they are just humans passing threw. I stood up and stretched. I grabbed my backpack and walked out of the cave. The people saw me and stopped. I paid no attention to them and walked to the woods.
I stripped my clothes down and shifted. I grabbed my backpack with my mouth and ran. Not sure where I was going now but I will finish this quest on finding the pack that killed my family, alone.
I ran threw the woods keeping a good sense on things. I stopped when I smelt another wolf has been here. I slowly continued to walked. A sharp pain shot up from my leg. I yelped. A sharp metal soud echoed threw the woods.
I looked down I steped in a bear trap. I dropped my backpack on the ground and tried to pry it open with my teeth. The teeth on the trap are revealing the bone in my leg. Blood poured from the wound.
'Emily' I whimpered
'Dammit Laila! What happened?' She asked. I showed her what I was seeing. I looked at my leg.
'What is that?! Where are you? I'm coming to get you'
'Don't, we aren't a team anymore. I shouldn't have shown you that. I'm by myself from now on. Goodbye Emily. I hope you have a good life' I shut her out of my mind. I tear rolled down my snout. I listened for any kind of presents but I didn't hear anyone. I quickly shifted back and pryed the teeth away from my leg. I slipped my leg out and got out some clothes. I'm going to have to go human. I put on some shorts, a bra and a shirt. I rapped a extra shirt around my ankle and tied it. I threw my backpack on my shoulder and limped. I'm going to have to stop at a hotel.
After about 10 miles of walking the sun was setting. My leg hurt. I was on someone elses land. I honestly didn't care. They could kill me now. The pain was horribe. I could hardly stand it. A low growl came from behind me. I turned around and was tackled to the ground.
--Emily's POV--
'Don't, we aren't a team anymore. I shouldn't have shown you that. I'm by myself from now on. Goodbye Emily. I hope you have a good life' After I heard that her mind shut out from my head. I started crying. I woke up the alpha. Laila was hurt, and now she wants nothing to do with me.
"Hey, what's wrong?" He asked. I sat up and looked at the wall. My mind was drifting off somewhere else. How could I throw my bestfriend away from a guy? I limped to my backpack. I grabbed it and walked to the door.
"Where are you going?" The alpha said now blocking my exit. Damn he's fast.
"Move" I demanded. I don't give a fuck if he is the alpha or my mate. My best friend might be out their dying.
"You will not speak to my that way!" his voice raising. I turned around and took off for the open window. I jumped threw, landing on my feet but injuring my ankle more. I heard someone yelling in the house. I took off into the woods. I threw a note on the ground and kept running. It read: My best friend is hurt and dying. I can't stay. I'm sorry, please forgive me. I will come back, just after I know she is safe.
I took off into the woods, shifting into my wolf. I tried to pick up Laila's sent but the rain mostly washed it away. I picked up my pace. I'l be able to cover more ground in less time.
In about 2 hours I picked up her sent at a cave. I kept my nose low to the ground, keeping on her trail. I stopped when I smelled blood. I looked and saw the bear trap with Laila's blood covering the ground. I ran past it and followed her blood trail.
Hold on Laila, I'm coming.
