~AZMARIE'S POV~
"I have fascinating news everyone!" He stormed into my office with a broad smile on his face and arms wide open.
The three of us already in the room, rolled our eyes, giving him an exaggerated sigh as he went on.
"So, Martha at the front desk finally accepted to going out on a date with me." Jeremy announced proudly,
"Wooow, after being asked like 30 times already, I'm sure she got tired of you and is doing it out of pity." Madison said as she shook her head.
Lilly and I both laughed at that and Jeremy huffed, taking a seat on the couch.
"That is what you call persistent. I don't give up until I get what I want." He defended himself,
"No, that's what you call annoying." Lilly put in,
"What do you think, Azmarie? Am I bring persistent or annoying?" He asked, looking at me with wide, bug eyes.
"Both I guess. You could learn a thing or two about learning to give up when the times right." I answered,
He didn't seem all too pleased with my answer and just shook his head as he went back to pickering with Madison.
Just like was said last week, Monday morning came and sure enough everything was normal.
Everyone in the building was alive and well, but didn't recall anything of their deaths. Madison still remembered everything and I'd have to take some time to explain everything to her. As for Andruis, I haven't heard a single hoot from him and I wasn't sure I wanted to just yet.
My stomach was aching for some time now, but I didn't feel any strange power taking over me again.
My phone suddenly buzzed and I looked to see a got a message.
"Guys, I'm stepping out for a while." I announced as I got up and gathered my things.
They said goodbye and I walked out onto the street to find Andruis standing tall and waiting for me.
He straightened up and approached me.
"Hey." I mumbled,
"Hi, I hope I'm not disturbing you." He replied his hands in his pockets.
"No, not really. We were just chit-chatting. Most of my important work is waiting for me at home." I mumbled not sure why this felt so awkward.
I nearly jumped in surprise at the sudden feel of his arm wrapping around me, my stomach being a bulging thing in between us.
"I believe there's somewhere where I should've been going with you a long time ago." He mumbled as he leaned down and kissed my cheek.
"Where?" I asked confused as I stared up at him.
He simply smiled down at me and helped me into his car that was parked up in front.
The ride was silent and Andruis laid his hand on my thigh and softly rubbed it as this was the most normal thing in the world.
Much to my surprise, we pulled in front of my doctor's office. I stared at him with even more profound confusion as we walked in.
"Hello, good day. May I help you?" The front desk lady asked.
"Yes, we're here for the Brown checkup." Andruis said and the woman nodded her head.
She pointed us to the door that had Dr. Gabriel's name on it.
"What exactly is going on?" I finally asked as we walked away.
"We need to check how you're doing. You've been under extreme stress and I want to make sure you're ok." He said and knocked on the door.
We heard a 'Come in' and we entered.
"My! It's been quite a while since I've seen you, Ms. Brown. Who might this be?" He said as he got up and approached us.
"Hi, it's nice to see you again. This is umm... my husband, Andruis Dominon." I said quite unsure as to what to say.
He nodded his head and both men shook hands before he instructed me to sit on the examination table.
Andruis sat beside me and was silent as he observed everything as I went through my usual procedures.
"Well, you seem healthy, but it's clear that your blood has gone up and there's a lot of pressure on your body. Your nutrients are low and your feet have swelled quite a bit more than what is normal. There aren't much major issues, but I do strongly suggest that you take a week or two off and let your body get better." He said as he looked through some files.
I swallowed the lump in my throat and nodded my head, heeding his words.
"I'm sorry, this is my fault." Andruis mumbled when the doctor stepped out briefly.
He got up and gathered me in his arms. I closed my eyes and let him embrace me.
This is what I needed. For him to be here and to hold me when I needed it.
Dr. Gabriel walked back in and spoke a bit more before we left.
I let out a deep breath as exited the building. Andruis opened the door for me and I was so much in my thoughts that I missed the entire ride.
We pulled in front of me place and it's a good thing that I wasn't completely out of it because I would've missed Lilly speaking with some movers.
I gaped clueless at Andruis as he helped me out and walked over to Lilly.
"What the hell is going on here?" I asked immediately, looking around with my mouth open.
The movers were just strolling in and out of my house, taking out my furniture!
"Well, you would need this place after you move so I'm just doing all the hard work so you won't have to." Lilly casually said, waving her hand in the air.
I raised an eyebrow and silently stared at her.
"Wait a minute, you didn't tell her?" She asked, turning to Andruis.
"She's under a lot of stress." Andruis snapped at her and Lilly rolled her eyes.
I tugged on Andruis' arm and made him look down at me. He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck in a nervous way.
"Come this way." He instructed and pushed me to walk on the sidewalk with him.
"You're moving in with me." He said in one rush.
I stopped walking and glared at him.
"We discussed this! You said it yourself. I promise not to hold you prisoner or anything." He said,
I do remember mentioning to him that I wouldn't mind moving in with him.
"Ok, where are we moving to?" I asked,
Andruis blinked at me a couple of times in surprise, but quickly composed himself.
"The outskirts of London ... I have a house there ready and protected for us. Lilly and Diamond baby proofed it and it's a good private environment for Alma's first few years." He stated,
I nodded my head and he explained a bit more about the place. It didn't sound bad at all and I could use some serenity in my life right now.
We walked back to the house and gathered my office work, placing them in boxes.
Then a thought occurred to me. It was whim, but it struck me as a good idea and I smiled.
It was high time that I retired.
