three months and seven days after the escape.

i woke up bright and early and i retrieved from the old beat up car i was sleeping in, soon, i got out of the car and i walked a short walk to jack's broke down car. i shook him awake and he seemed alarmed at first, but then realized it was only me,"finn, what time is it?" to answer his question, i pulled out my watch that i stole from a boy at the orphanage and saw the time,"8:37," i quickly responded.
"let me sleep a little longer, would ya?" jack groaned at me.
"joe's interview is today, remember?"
"what time is his interview?"
"9:30," i said.
jack became worried,"how far's the walk? i assume you walked there to see the time distance."
i assured,"jack, stop worrying, it's only a fifteen minute walk, he's fine. i'll let him sleep in a little longer."
jack questioned again,"will sadie get a job?"
i climbed into jack's car and sat by him,"sadie's useless if she doesn't speak. i'll probably say i'm sixteen and try to get a job. we need money, more than you think, jack."
"what'll happen to me?"
"what do you mean?"
"you and joe will be working sooner or later. what'll happen with me and sadie?"
"jack, you worry too much. live a little, we're free, jack, free!"
he gave me a reassuring smile.

joe was headed off to his interview. while he was gone, jack, sadie, and i were also busy. we collected every penny, every dollar we could find lying on the streets. we never wanted to make a sign asking for money because we'd rather not draw the attention to ourselves. it just certainly wasn't our thing.
