another day passed at the brown home. i was still missing from the junkyard from my famhon friends. at that moment, i didn't wanna be a famhon anymore concerning past events. i had almost forgotten about the fight until saturday morning. i accidentally slept in millie's bed that friday night but in the morning she was gone again. she was downstairs noticeably making breakfast but i also heard sulking.
"millie, are you alright?" i asked hoping for a positive response that i knew i wasn't going to get.
without turning towards me, she said,"i don't want you to leave me. i want my mommy back. i want my dad to be happy. i want to not be alone. i want some friends other than you."
i walked up towards her,"i'm not leaving you forever and you know that. i believe that you make your dad happy and proud. and god, you really believe that you're alone? you've got me 100 percent of the time and i can fix your friend problem. what if i took you to the junkyard and you met my fa—friends."
she turned around,"what about joe? won't he hate me for keeping you from him?"
"he's not that bad, mills. you're taking it to the worst extent."
"jumping to the worst conclusion opens your mind and makes you rethink things."
i grabbed one of her hands,"just come to the junkyard with me. it'll be easier to explain and leave me to the talking. you'll be back just in time for your dad's arrival. and i'll be back tomorrow to see you if i'm not grounded for life," i made her laugh. her laugh was cute and unforgettable. like it echoed in my head even after her mouth had closed.
she gave in an trusted me. i gathered all of my things and we both headed to the backyard to retrieve our bikes.when we got to the junkyard, jack and joe were sitting in the grass. it had only been a few days since i saw them but they both looked physically dirty, especially jack.
jack noticed me first, he tapped joe and then they both got up and ran towards me. they completely ignored millie, like she wasn't even there. joe began questioning,"where were you? where'd you get those clothes from?"
then i looked at millie,"i ran away. i went to stay with my friend and my partner in crime,"i scooted closer to millie as i explained,"this is millie. i met her almost two weeks ago and i've never been closer to someone in my life. i've known her for a short time but it feels much longer than that. i didn't tell you all before because i assumed you'd be judgmental but i finally know now that this was the time to do it."
joe laughed,"so y'all been sleeping?"
millie and i looked at each other, blushed and we both screamed,"gross!"
i announced,"i just turned 15 and she's 14!"
joe smiled,"jokes, kids, jokes. i'm happy you've got a friend to lean on, finn. you deserve millie. you're welcome here anytime. if you're a friend of finns, you're a friend of ours; also our redhead sadie, you'll like her."
i hugged joe tightly and whispered to him,"thank you, i'm sorry."
he whispered back,"i'm sorry too, brother."
