after the movie, i was smiling ear to ear. i was an official fanboy of ghostbusters,"millie, that was amazing!"
she grabbed my hands,"i know, i know!"
we laughed and screamed happily. we were all smiles for the rest of the day while we watched movies. day turned into night and that's when the last movie shut off and the house was dark. millie's dad was out of town for a couple of days so i wasn't worried staying over late, the real problem was joe.
"i should probably go," i said out of fear of what joe might say.
"i'll see you, finnie," she grabbed my face and kissed me.
we parted and i smiled,"my favorite birthday was my fifteenth. thanks for making it special, my special friend."
she waved as i exited the house. i looked back from my bike and smiled.

when i arrived home, joe was sitting on the hood of his car. he noticed me and jumped down,"where the hell were you?"
i hopped of my bike in utter hesitation and fear,"i was just out enjoying my day."
joe stepped closer to me,"he's asleep now but jack tells me that you're out all day everyday. one, you were told to not leave jack. two is a question, what is so interesting about town? you've probably got it all memorized by now don't you?"
he was getting heated and i was really hesitating now,"so what? i like to explore, joe, there's no reason for my actions, i just do what i want. for sake, i'm a teenage boy!"
"so am i, finn!" he yelled at me.
my voice started to break,"but you're forced to be a man! you're the only one good enough to be able to handle being poor! i'm useless, i can't do anything but fix bikes and search for stupid stuff on the sidewalk!"
he didn't care i was upset,"how dare you say that! we're a lot less poor now that sadie and i are working! but you? you're roaming around town with opportunities popping up all over, and you're not even considering one, are you?"
i was crying harder now,"you have no idea what i do out there!" i ran to my jeep and crawled into a ball on the seat. i cried into my knees for a while until i started to cool down. i noticed the green bomber jacket lying on the floor of the car. i threw it in my bag along with every single one of my personal belongings and i was off on my bike. i rode to millie's house one more time today. i knocked on the door and after a few long minutes, she opened the door in her pajamas and her hair a mess,"finn, what're you doing here?"
"i got in a fight with joe, you think i can stay here a few nights?"
she welcomed me in,"my dad will be home in three days, then you'll have to face joe again."
i agreed,"i know. i'll sleep on the couch, thanks millie."
she stopped me,"we have a spare bedroom, it was meant for my little sister but it was obviously only meant to be a guest room, and you're my guest."
"little sister?"
"it's too late for that, i'll tell you over breakfast in the morning."
she led me to the guest room and when i walked in, it was very inviting; just like the rest of her house.
she left the room and i was alone. i put my bag in the closet and pulled back the comforter, blanket, and sheet. i laid down, covered myself up and i could feel relief all through my body. it felt so good to be back in a real bed, it was soothing and calmed me down from my horrific night. soon sleep took over me and the next i knew, it was morning.
