nightfall arose after hours of talking to Ayla. i also figured out that she was curious about her biological siblings too. i guess we did have a few things in common like movies, fixing things, tragedy, sleep deprivation, food obsessions, and family ties. but the way that she looked at me kind of freaked me out, it wasn't platonic.
when she left at 9:30pm, she gave me a hug and told me,"i'll see you around."
i answered one word,"hopefully."

i walked up to millie's room and opened the door, she was sleeping curled up in a ball on top of her blanket shivering. i rolled her over, tugged the blanket out, rolled her back and tucked her in. i kissed her cheek and told her,"goodnight, sleeping beauty."
her eyes fluttered open, i didn't mean to wake her. she said sleepily with a horse voice,"what time is it?"
"sleep, mills, it's getting late. we'll do something tomorrow since i don't have work and Ayla took up our day."
she spoke with her eyes closed,"stay."
i climbed in bed with her and shut my eyes.

morning came and when i woke, millie had just gotten out of bed. i groaned and stretched to get her attention as she was in her closet finding clothes to wear for the day. she turned around the threw a shirt at me,"do you like that?"
i smelt it,"smells good, so it should look good too."
she sat on the edge of the bed and whined,"you're no help to a girl who has no clothes."
i got up and looked in her closet. i pulled out a grey t-shirt and coral shorts,"you'd look good in this combination."
she laughed,"do i need any jewelry?"
i pulled out a silver bead bracelet from her box and then i looked for the promise ring,"where's the promise ring?"
she looked down at her finger,"i slept with it on."
i smiled and told her,"put on what i picked for you."
she walked out of the room and came back minutes later with my outfit on. she looked as beautiful as always. i accidentally made goo-goo eyes at her and she noticed,"you're basically drooling, finn, chill out it's only a basic outfit."
"it's not basic to me, surely."
she laughed and told me to follow her. she took me into her father's room,"my dad was a verily skinny man, you might be able to fit into his clothes, or i'll have to sell them all."
she pulled out a yellow polo,"try this on with your khakis."
the shirt surprisingly fit me perfectly. i walked into the room and she looked as if she was going to cry. she told me to come over to her,"let me tuck it in." after she was done she commanded me to back up and she smiled ear to ear,"i'm so glad it fits, you look good, finnie."
then she asked me to pull the clothes i didn't like out of the closet so she could exchange for some money. i pulled out more than half of the closet, he had a lot of clothes. most of his pants left along with the shirts i didn't like. i assumed i could keep some pants to grow into.
then millie suggested,"why don't we get you new clothes? you haven't had anything new to wear in a while."
i nodded,"we don't need to millie, i'm good on clothes. i just got new ones."
"you can't just wear my dad's clothes. you're your own man, finn. let's go, please."
"i'm a man now, aren't i?"
"no, but please can we go?"
"if you want to that bad, mills, i guess we could walk over there."

so we did walk over there and on our walk millie spoke,"so Ayla's more important than me now, right?"
"when in the world did i say that?"
"never, i just assumed."
"of course she's important to me, for gods sake, she's my long lost sister. but i swear on my life she will never be as important as my beautiful best friend and girlfriend."
she smiled at me as we held hands the whole way to the store.
