CHAPTER NINE
NON-SAVIORS|||||||||||
After last night, I felt really bad about sneaking off from school with Scott. I felt bad because I know how much my mom cares for Scott and I and that's why she lashed out on us. She was just confused on our whereabouts and possibly thought we were dead or something. That doesn't mean I regret doing it with him though. Being that close to him, enjoying our time together, and forgetting about Travis really opened up my eyes. I realized how much Scott means to me and how much he really cares about me.
I skidded down the steps of my house, finding my mother in the kitchen sipping coffee. I slowly walked towards her and sat down at the seat. I pondered on what to even say. "I'm sorry, mom, really", I hugged my mom softly as she tensed up but finally returned the gesture.
She pulled away from me and stared me in the eyes before kissing my forehead, "No, I'm sorry. For the way I acted last night."
I tugged on my book bag straps, and shrugged, "No, seriously, it's fine–"
"No, it isn't", she cut me off with a stern look, "I know I always lash out at you guys but I don't mean it. Sometimes. I love you, kids. I was just really worried about where you and Scott were."
I nodded quickly as she pulled me into her arms, "I love you, mom."
The two of us stayed there, engulfed into each other until another pair of arms wrapped themselves around us.
"Family hug without the one and only? That's not very nice."
I rolled my eyes at my brother as he pulled away from us with a cocky smile.
My mother crossed her arms over her chest, "You better bring those grades up before the school year ends, mister. Do you know how much summer school costs?"
Sam shrugged, walking over to refrigerator in the kitchen as he pulled out a water bottle, "I don't know... twenty?"
My mother pinched the bridge of her nose in frustration as she ushered us out of the door, "Just go, just go. Enjoy school! I love you!"
"Love you too", Sam and I replied as he stumbled over the sidewalk, falling onto the trunk of the car.
He quickly pulled himself up, fixing his posture, trying to play it off but I laughed out loud, "Everyone saw that!", I bursted out into laughter at him.
"Shut the hell up and get in the car", he muttered so mom wouldn't hear as he unlocked the doors. The both of us hopped in, him in driver's seat. Before we drove off, he tightened his grip on the steering wheel, "So... um... Stiles is super angry at you and Scott."
I was checking my makeup in the rear view mirror before I turned to him with a confused expression. Why the hell would Stiles be mad at me? Well, both of us. That doesn't make sense. "What do you mean?"
Sam pondered for a moment, as he looked around confusedly before his sass dripped in, "I don't know how to elaborate that Stiles is mad at you. He's angry at you and Scott. He doesn't want to talk to either of you. Does that clear it up for you, enough?"
