CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN
SILENT NIGHT

||||||||||

Amy's car accelerated quickly while Ana slammed her heeled-clad foot on the gas pedal. She had the windows down, the cool night air blooming and waving her dark brown hair around. The teenage girl was determined to figure out where her boyfriend was, whether she died tonight or not. She had to find Scott. Him getting shot continued to be a vision etched in her mind and she wasn't sure it would be removed anytime soon. Ana sighed, looking everywhere through the Preserve while driving her mother's car. She couldn't picture any bodies or silhouettes and it was starting to get a bit creepy. Although she was an Alpha now, the whole fighting hoopla still wasn't in her forte yet. Her enhanced ears perked at voices but she couldn't identify who it was or what it was.

She was cut off by almost hitting a tree, and she hit the brake so hard, she wouldn't be surprised if her feet was damaged. All the girl could do was sit there and breathe heavily at the thought of her almost dying. She took off her seatbelt, laying back on her seat and breathed in and out slowly.

"I've got to get my shit together."

Ana put her hands on the wheel, put her foot back on the gas pedal and sped off. Her phone started to ring and her eyes lit up at some news. That had to be why someone was calling her at this moment. She quickly answered it without even looking at the Caller ID.

"Hello?"

"Ana?"

Stiles. "Hey, Stiles. Where the hell have you been– well actually, where did you and everyone else go?"

"Ana..." His breath hitched, and he sighed. Ana could sense the tremble and faultiness in his voice. Something bad had happened to someone close to them.

"What happened?" She asked, slowing the car down.

"It's Lydia. She's hurt."

Ana almost drove into a tree again as she slammed on the brakes, quickly slowing the car down before opening the door and hopping out. The cold breeze flowed through her and her teeth begun to chatter. "Stiles. Please... please tell me you aren't joking."

"Does this sound like a joke? She's freaking hurt... like, almost dead."

"No, no, no, no", she repeated fearsomely, her breathing becoming heavier. "Not Lydia, not freaking Lydia."

"Mini, Jackson, and I are at the hospital watching over her and my Dad and a bunch of deputies are here and, Ana, you just need to get here, okay? This night has turned into chaos in, like, the span of an hour and we're all scared. I don't even know where Scott, Sam, or Allison are...", he trailed off, swearing under his breath about something. "Shit, now Jackson and Mini are arguing, and Sam just walked in the hospital. Listen, Ana just get here."
