CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX
A LITERAL SNAKE

"You stay behind me, all right?"

Our secret office meetup ended quickly, because time was ticking and it was only a matter of time before Isaac or Erica made a move on innocent, little Lydia Martin. We wouldn't be able to protect her if we were having a verbal squabble in Coach's office. Stiles, Sam, Allison, and Mini were on Lydia duty while Scott and I had to go talk to Derek. The main reason I didn't want to be on Lydia duty with them is because Lydia freaking despises me and I had no clue how to make things right with her. Every time I thought about the current state of our friendship, or cousin-ship? Family-ship? I'm not sure how that works. But, every time I think of where we are in terms of friendship, it pains me because we were so close literally a week ago. It drives me crazy just now fast the night changes overtime. Even though she wasn't too crazy about me at the moment, I felt like she still had an inch of respect for me since she pointed out Scott and Erica in the back of Harris' class, knowing that Scott is my boyfriend and that I had to see that one way or another.

Speaking of Scott, he was practically begging for me to stay behind him as we were standing behind the double doors of the school that led to the outside where Derek currently is. His eyes had a gleam in it, letting me know that he was extremely serious about this as they bored into my brown ones.

"You hear me?"

I reluctantly nodded, even though I wanted to be front and center during this whole confrontation. "Yeah, yeah, Michael J. Fox."

"What does that– oh, because I'm a werewolf?", he questioned and I nodded in a 'duh' way. He cocked his head to the side seriously. "I'm serious, Ana. We don't know who Derek's out there with and I know how you get about things like this."

Well, at least he knew me because I most certainly did want to give Derek my two cents and shove those cents up his ass. "Scott, I'm obeying you, you're the leader. Now be quiet before I reconsider", I joked and he smiled.

"You're the best."

"Yeah, yeah", I waved him away and he grabbed my hand, tightly intwining our fingers.

"You ready?"

"I'm ready."

Scott nodded at my response and forcefully pushed the double doors open with an angry expression. It almost looked like he was showing off and being tough for me. I smirked, "You still trying to act like the guys from my Wattpad books, aren't you?"
