CHAPTER FORTY
CAN FORGIVE BUT CAN'T FORGET

|||||||

Ignoring everyone's protests to stick with the original plan, I trekked down the hall that lead to the boys' locker room, walking with Allison and Sam. Scott was taking his make-up exam for Harris while Stiles and Mini were together, reluctantly, talking to Lydia about what happened to Jackson's parents. I was supposed to be with, as Sam likes to call it, Team B, which was Stiles and Mini. But I knew that Lydia didn't like me at the moment so there was no point of me being with them if Lydia was going to be staring at me the whole time, planning on how she was going to kill me. Just like Scott, I didn't want to sit around and do nothing. I originally was standing outside of Harris' class, watching Scott do his test until Harris noticed me and threatened to put my grade down to a zero so I decided to go with Allison. Who cares if Jackson has a restraining order on me? Just like Sam said, there were no police around and if Jackson even thought about snitching on us, we would ruff him up and make him not even dare tell on us again. Wow, that was dark.

Allison, Sam, and I were standing outside of the boys' locker room, which is where we saw Jackson go into a few minutes ago. Allison kept picking at her fingers nervously and Sam noticed.

"What's wrong?"

He reached out to close his hands over hers, instantly making her calm down as she sighed. "It's... it's Jackson, you know? He's already an ass. What if he turns into the lizard or something?"

Sam rubbed her fingers softly, "I'll be right out here, listening to everything that happens and Ana will be with you."

I nodded at her with a reassuring smile, "I won't let him try anything, okay? I'll kick his a–"

All three of us jumped back, startled by the sudden Matt coming out of the locker room with a bright smile. "Oh, hey!", he beamed at Allison and I before his eyes fell on my brother. "Sam! What's up?"

Sam fake smiled, "Hey... uh... M–Mike–"

"It's Matt", he corrected, disappointedly.

The atmosphere grew awkward with the three of us standing here, trading blank looks at Matt, who continued to smile at us. We were patiently waiting for him to get the memo that we didn't want him here. I could feel Sam's glare from behind me, "Do you need something, dude?"

Matt realized that we didn't want him here at the moment and he apologized, "Oh, sorry, uh... bye, guys."

He suspiciously winked at Allison, waving goodbye  and we returned the wave, watching him walk away down the hall. Sam huffed, "What a weirdo, am I right?"
