"Are you afraid of the dark?"
A question so common, yet unanswered
What is so special about this dark,
That leaves people in wonder?
Is it the darkness in a room with lights off?
Scared to enter, somebody might be hiding
Within the dark that lies thereof
Or devoured by the fear of being blind,
Filled with a hundred doubts in head,
You take a step behind.
"Are you afraid of the dark?"
A question so confusing yet simple
Why criticising the dark,
When the stars embedded in it twinkle?
Is it the darkness of the night?
That falls slowly, accompanied by the twilight,
The beasts then are aroused, a thousand eyes
Stare through the dark, gleaming red in might,
The woods are pitch black, the night cold;
You back away, terrified to meet your demise.
"Are you afraid of the dark?"
The six short words are made of a million deep thoughts
How come one underestimate the dark,
When it's present in those hearts of ours?
It is the darkness that lives inside of us,
Like a parasite, feeding on our fears,
It is the dark that is hidden deep within,
A feel of guilt, lust and pleasures oh, so dear.
Lost in infinite thoughts, the dark in mind
Detaches us from this world, from the reality we unbind
The little Devil, in the depths of our hearts he lies,
Keeps on troubling, an unintentional love;
Though the dark will pay the price.
The Moon stays for a thousand nights and one
He keeps his promise, despite the things we've done,
The Devil grins, his desires being fulfilled,
His smile worth a thousand lies, though all are nilled.
The mysteries that the dark brings are captivating.
Scary yet alluring, in the heart they leave a mark,
So now I shall ask you,
"Are you afraid of the dark,
Or is the dark afraid of you?"
