Pain.
Pain.
Pain.
Pain.
That's the feeling that courses through my body.
Blow after blow after blow after blow.
Darkness surrounds me. I can't see anything, I can just feel the undying heat and the mix of blood and sweat through all the pain.
I want to die.
I've never wanted to die before but right now it seems like my only option. Life would be easy if I was dead because there would be no pain or anger or hate. Life would be easy because I wouldn't have a life. I'd be dead.
I find myself begging them to kill me. I find myself crying and wailing and telling them to end me. I want to go and be with my mom, Johnny and my grandad. I can leave Michael and Lincoln and I don't mind leaving them because they'll be better off without me.
I'm done.
I'm finished.
I lay on the ground in a dark, wooden hut, all alone. I'm not with LJ anymore. I desperately hope they aren't punishing him for my mistake. I begged them not to touch him through my screams of agony.
We must be in a secluded space because anyone hearing the pain hanging on my bloodcurdling screams would surely do something about it. They are screams of death.
I can't even fantasise a new life anymore with the doctors, I can only think of dying.
The door creaks open and I immediately slam myself against the back of the room in a feeble and pointless attempt to escape the beating that is sure to come... but no.
The blonde lady from the first day enters with a soft looking face. She slowly walks forward and then kneels beside me, "Olivia," she whispers as presses a small piece of metal into my hand. I grasp it tightly feeling the shape of a key. "Leave. Get out of here."
She then stands up and walks to the door, closing it and locking it once more. I stare at the wood and then down at the rusty key stuck to my clammy palm. I have a way out.
But my brain doesn't think that at first. I wonder if I deserve to escape.
So many lives have been ruined and changed for the worst because of us escaping and I would rather be tortured and die than have that keep happening.
But then again, I was exonerated and so was Lincoln. All we need to do is help Michael now, so surely things will be better. Surely we can be better.
I make my decision and begin crawling to the door but I can the lock on the other side being opened so I retreat back to the wall, clasping the key as tightly as possible. When the door swings open, filling the room with blinding light for a millisecond before slamming shut again, I see Gretchen tugging at the blondes pony tail.
She drags her in and then throws her on the floor. She looks at me with determination in her eyes, she mouths the word 'go', before Gretchen shoots her in the chest, the blood splattering all over my face and shirt. "That's what happens to people who betray us." she tells me and then leaves.
But she didn't take the key.
I can only think that the key is the reason for her killing the blonde, so why didn't she take it from me? Unless, she did something else and that's why she was left here to die.
I look down at the body, which is letting out a wheezy breath as her doe eyes begin to glaze over. I pull her body onto my lap, stroking her hair. I feel obligated to comfort her in her last moments of life considering I'm the reason that she's dying. "L...lea...leave." she croaks and then takes a final breath before her eyes close and her heart stops.
