I have gone through life from day to day
I have obeyed instructions given and tried to be gay
It never mattered how much I do, or how I have tried
The outcome would be the same, away with you and my laughter died!
I wondered to myself if life and situations would ever get better
And to my surprise just one little thing happened and life tasted so much sweeter
A friend I cared for many years ago appeared
And just for a moment, a few seconds, a few minutes great things we shared.
The one little thing he did for me, you see
Helped me to remember that God's grace is free
It's not about giving me wealth, fortune or fame
But it's to know that to spend some time with me was his only game.
The one little thing he did was so sweet to me
That when I remember this act a smile came from my heart, true and free
I remember telling my daughter child its not the big gifts that count
It's the little thing from the heart that caused my spirit to mount.
So as you go through life from day to day
Remember its not the things in big packages, although that's the game some people play
Its to know that what you do comes from deep within the heart so pure and true
And with this said, I wish you a blessed and holy day from my heart to you!
