Melody P.O.V There I stood, in my prom-outfit, looking at myself in the mirror. I was super nervous, I wasn’t into dresses, well… I wasn’t into tight dresses, although I loved the colors of this one. I had always doubted my figure… I got woken from my thoughts by a car pulling up in my driveway. I quickly put the last few things in my purse and got downstairs, putting my heels on. The bell rang, so I got up and opened up. When I did, Ross’ jaw dropped, making me chuckle and blush.”You look absolutely stunning.” He said. “You look handsome yourself too.” I replied as I looked at his tuxedo. He looked super hot in it, to be honest. He reached his hand out, “Are you ready?” I grabbed it, and gave it a light squeeze. “I guess I am.”
We got into his car, and he started driving towards school. His hand was on my thigh, and his thumb slowly moved over it. It gave me a nice feeling, and it made me calm down a bit as well. We parked in the car-park of school and I wanted to get out, but he stopped me. I turned back to him and gave him a puzzled look, “What?” I asked curiously. He looked me deeply in the eyes, “If you don’t feel-“ I cut him off by putting my finger on his mouth. “I will be fine.” I said with a little too obvious pauses in between and softly pressed my lips onto his after. He cupped my cheeks as we kissed, and I felt butterflies in my stomach. A lot of butterflies. We held the kiss some longer, but after a while we both had to pull away for breath. I looked down shyly as we both pulled back, “That felt amazing.” I confessed. I heard Ross chuckling, “It surely did.”
We got out of the car, and walked into the building. The hallways were decorated with balloons and banners, saying all kinds of things, it looked really beautiful. Ross and I walked some further, and we got in row for the prom-picture. I saw Rocky and Riker standing by the door opening of the gym, where the party was, and they had two beautiful girls with them. I didn’t know them, but damn, I was jealous of the way they looked. “C’mon, babe. It’s our turn.” Ross’ voice woke me from my thoughts once again, and we walked over to the place where we had to stand for the photo. Ross wrapped his arms around my waist and leaned his head against mine, and I just smiled at the camera as the guy took the picture.
After the photo we all gathered with his siblings at the door-opening of the gym. Rydel looked amazing, and she was with Ellington. I wondered if it was like a date or not, but I guessed it was. I mean, they’re like meant to be right? We talked some, and somehow I got lost in thoughts once again. I should be having the time of my life, instead I seemed to drift of in my own world all the time. WAKE UP MELODY! We got into the gym, where it seemed like hundreds of people were dancing. Ross and I searched for a spot and we started dancing along with everyone. We laughed a lot. “Do you want something to drink?” I nodded. “I’ll get you something, stay here.” He said and disappeared. I decided to join Rydel and Ellington, who were dancing close to us and we just joked around a bit.
Then the slow songs started to play. I watched as Ellington pulled her close and they started slowing. Where the heck was Ross at?! I looked around and then knew where I had to go, to find him. I walked out of the gym, climbed the stairs and got into classroom 453. Luckily, it was open. There sat a few girls in the corner, who were whispering to each other. I sat down on the table and looked out the window. It showed a view of the entire gym. It was a pretty badass classroom, to my opinion. I looked around, but couldn’t find Ross. I felt my phone vibrating in my purse suddenly, and grabbed it out. A text from Ross:
You know where I am now that you read this, meet me there ;) x
I smiled as I glanced at my boyfriend’s text. Now I knew where he was, of course I knew it. The rooftop. I quickly walked over to the stairs and climbed them, when I came onto the rooftop I got greeted by floating lanterns in the air. Everywhere around the school were people who lit them, because of the prom. They always do that, but it felt more magical now that it was Ross and my prom. There he sat, on a bench with two drinks. I smiled over at him, walked to him and sat down. “Why are we here?” I asked. He wrapped one arm around my shoulder, “Because I want to be with you alone. I want a romantic moment for our own on this magical night.” He talked like he was from a different time, but I loved it. It was really sweet, but we could get caught. “Ross, it’s really sweet, but what if-“He cut me off by pressing his lips onto mine. “You’re way too good at this.” I mumbled against his lips as we kissed. He slowly pulled back with a grin on his face, “I know I am.” I chuckled. “We shouldn’t stay here too long, we might get caught.” We enjoyed our drinks and slowed a bit to the music we could hear up there and then got back to the gym. I was really having the time of my life with Ross, I loved him so damn much.
Another few slow songs started to play, so Ross and I slowed again. I leaned my chin against his chest, so I could look at the others while dancing. I looked around a bit while I enjoyed being close to him and slowly danced. Being that close to him always gave me butterflies and made me feel happy, although we had done this thousands of times before. Well, not the slowing, but being with each other. My eyes suddenly found Mackenzie, dancing on the other side of the room, who looked at us with a death glare on her face. I didn’t want to pay attention to her, but somehow it kept happening.
“What are you looking at, baby girl?” I suddenly saw Ross was looking at me. I quickly looked back at him, “Ehm… nothing.” I was such a bad liar. He looked over to where I was looking at, “No you were looking at something.” He looked back at me, “Tell me, please.” I sighed, “Mackenzie.” He sighed too, and lifted my chin back up as I looked down, making me look him in the eyes. “She’s the past. She was part of the old me. The old me is gone now. And you helped me with that. You changed me. And I could never ever thank you enough for doing that. I was a jerk.” Him saying that made me smile. I changed him. I brought back the old him. “And all I did was being myself to you, teaching you a lesson here and there.” I made it a joke instead of getting more serious. I chuckled for a while, but stopped when Ross leaned his forehead against mine. “You changed the bad boy.” He said as he looked me deeply in the eyes. “I changed the bad boy.” I repeated after him.
