- A few days later -

Melody P.O.V Senior year has been a rollercoaster to me. But I guess I’m not the only one who thinks that way. The time had literally flown by, and I wished I didn’t have to leave high school just yet. I didn’t knew what Ross was going to do after high school, probably continue that little plan he and his siblings had. Thanks to me Ross had become more close with his siblings, and they brought up the idea of forming a band after high school, which was gonna be a success according to Riker. What I was going to do? I didn’t know. I might need some time to think about it. Until then, I was going to keep contact with Ross as much as I could, before he would get successful and gets on the road.

“Melody.” My mom’s voice woke me from my thoughts. “We’re here, c’mon.” I looked up and saw the school-building. I got out of the car and walked into school with my parents. Graduation-day. Most likely, the last day we would see our entire class all together. We walked in and my mom and dad took place on the tribune of the gym, where all the other parents sat. I looked around and my eyes caught Ross, standing with his arms open. I ran over to him and he spun me around, then hugged me. “You look nice in a graduation-gown.” He chuckled. I looked down at my blue graduation-gown and smiled. “Why aren’t you wearing heels? All the girls wear them.”

“Because I’m not like them and it’s my choice whether to wear heels or not.” I pushed him against his chest playfully and then sat down next to Rydel. Ross followed soon after by sitting down on the other side of me and we waited for the speeches to start. A loud applause filled the air as the principal walked onto the little stage, “Thank you, thank you.” He took place behind the microphone and smiled at everyone. “This year’s students were special. I guess it’s been a weird year for most of you. We, cause I guess I speak for all the teaches, have never been through such a big change in our entire lives. There were a lot of complications…” I saw Ross smirking in the corner of my eye at the word ‘complications’. He knew exactly who and what they were talking about. “… But I guess I’ve said enough. It’s time for our students to take the stage.”

Another applause filled the room as two younger children, the children of the principal, walked onto the stage with two trolleys. They opened them up and the principal reached into it, revealing a paper when he took it out of the trolley. Those were the diploma-carriers, of course. “Riker Lynch.” He spoke into the microphone, making Riker look up from his lap and stand up. He walked onto the stage and hugged the principal’s hand before taking his diploma and walked over to the microphone. “Hello there everyone, as you might know, my name is Riker.” He looked at everyone in the gym and then continued. “To be honest, I never thought senior year would’ve been such a rollercoaster. Not just because everything suddenly changes inside of school, but… also because of what happened outside of school. Anyways, my senior year has been fun. I know exactly what I’m going to do after this, and I couldn’t have wished for a better school than this one, so thank you, for all these amazing years and the amazing people I’ve met, I’m never gonna forget about you guys.”

Soon, Riker got followed by Rocky. “Hi everyone. So… From the start, I knew high school wasn’t gonna be easy. But I had luck the past couple of years. Thanks for… These years I had here. I would never have wanted to miss them.” I knew Rocky wasn’t a man of words, especially not at school and about school, but he did pretty well right? Just like with Riker, applause filled the air as he walked off of the stage. After Rocky it was Rydel’s turn to take the stage. “First of all, I want to thank every single teacher that… Took the time to help me with every single subject. Whenever I needed some help, there was always someone to help me. Second of all, I want to thank those people for giving me the opportunity to work and hang together with my friends. To have fun, although we had to serious. I’ve had the time of my life here, but that wouldn’t have been if my friends hadn’t been there. To everyone in the room, who is on high school or will go to high school soon, you’re going to need your friends. So make sure you either have or make friends, it’ll make things a lot easier for you.” Rydel was always so inspirational.

When Rydel sat back into her chair it was Ellington’s turn, which meant that Ross’ turn was after his… I was curious about his speech, he never let me read it before. “Ever since I was a little kid, I’ve known what I wanted to become when I was older. And to be real, I didn’t need school for that.” Laughing filled the air as he said that. “But after all… I’m glad I’ve spend these years here. It was fun. It was… what’s that word again?” And again laughter filled the air. Ellington was the best when it came to entertaining. “Anyways, bye.” I shook my head and laughed. Rydel did exactly the same. “Ross Lynch.” The moment of truth. He got up and walked over to the stage as he unfolded his paper. He shook the principal’s hand and took place behind the microphone.

“In the beginning of this year, and even before… I was a person, who wasn’t me. I was different from who I was supposed to be. That had a reason, which I’d rather not talk about. Back then, I never knew one single person could change me… Back to the person I should be, who I am now. But luckily I was lucky to meet a person like that. She made me who I am now, and I couldn’t be happier to have her in my life. Mel, I might get mad at times, for the most stupid reasons, but please know that I love you more than anything.” When he said that, he made me think about the fact that he, his siblings and Ellington wanted to form a band after high school, which probably meant seeing him less than I wanted. Ross continued his speech, but that part didn’t matter to me.

After the graduation, Stormie decided to take me to dinner with the Lynches and Ellington. During the drive, everyone talked with each other, but I didn’t feel like it. My mind kept wandering off to the future. What if the band they would form soon would get really famous? With tours, maybe even world-tours? I would never ever be allowed to come with… Ross and I wouldn’t see each other for months… Maybe he would fall in love with some other girl? “Mel?” I blinked my eyes and looked over at him, “Sorry, what?” I said, trying to act like everything was fine. “What’s wrong? What were you thinking about?” He whispered. I shook my head and looked away from him.

When Mark parked the car next to the restaurant, everyone stormed out and over to the restaurant. “I’m going to call my aunt quickly.” I said. Stormie nodded and left the door of the van open slightly. Of course I wasn’t going to call my aunt. I hadn’t seen her in ages. I just needed some time for myself. I didn’t want Ross to see how I struggled with the fact that he was about to make his dream come true. I wanted him to go into the music-business with a smile and not with a half-smile, cause he knew how much I would miss him, how much I would think of him. The thought of missing him like that, made my eyes water. I couldn’t cry right now… I quickly wiped over both of my eyes. “Mel, are you coming?”

Ross opened up the door of the van and saw me sitting there, so I quickly hid my face in my hands. “Hey, what’s wrong?” He quickly climbed into the van and sat down next to me, pulling me into his arms. A few tears rolled off of my cheeks, a few sobs escaped my mouth, but Ross calmed me down, sort of. He looked up at me, “What’s wrong? Tell me.” He whispered. “Now that high school is finished… You said you were going to form a band with your siblings and Ell… And I was you to chase your dreams… But… I can’t handle the thought of missing you during touring… The fact that I will see you in the papers, rumors going on everywhere, about you dating some other girl… I can’t do that…” His eyes widened when I said that, pulling me into another tight hug. I rested my head in the crook of his neck as we did. “I could never love someone else the way I love you. I would never date another girl, because I have you. You are the one that I want. The only one I want.” When he said that I smiled against his neck. “Will you stay with me?” I mumbled against his neck. “No matter what I will always be your bad boy.” He chuckled again. I leaned up and looked him straight in the eyes, “My changed bad boy.”
