"Choo! Choo!"

For the past half hour, that's all Eren has been chanting. Furlan is visiting and he brought his little brother, Jean. As a gift, he gave Eren a train set. It took us an hour to put it together. The tracks are formed to a medium oval and it has a remote that controls the train. It can clockwise and counter. It came with a small conductor hat and overalls. So, in the end, it has been Eren's recent obsession.

I finish up lunch and move into the living room. Saichi is up in her office and Levi is with Lance for yet another attempt at peace meeting with Kenny Ackerman. Maki is flipping through channels while Aki is lounging in the window seat with his school book. Jean is making himself dizzy by moving his head along with the train. I pick up Eren by his shirt and take the small remote from his hands. "Hey! Give it back!"

"It's lunchtime." I hold him over my shoulder as I walk to the dining room. I set him down in his high chair. Aki and Maki eventually join us followed by Jean and Furlan. Since there is not an extra high chair, he has his little brother sit on his lap. Since I was behind on schedule, I made omurice. After serving everyone, I go up the stairs to retrieve Saichi. I softly knocked on the door before letting myself in. She's sitting in front of her laptop, staring at nothing. "Are you going to each lunch?"

She shuts her laptop and shakes her head. "I'm not in any mood to eat right now." She stands up and walks over to her bookcase just to pick at things. She's anxious. I don't blame her. The weight of so many people is coming down on her back. She could give in at any moment but she refuses. I want her to be okay. I need her to be.

"Saichi, how do you think this all will end?"

"I don't know, Takahiro."

"You know how things used to be when you were killing for Lance. Killing an entire clan could mean pressing a reset button." She leans against the bookshelf, nodding her head slowly. She knows the risks. Nothing about her will be the same again. "Is it a side of you that you really want them to see?"

"Of course not but what choice do I have? I can't let them live with this kind of danger."

"You may never smile again."

Saichi's condition is nothing in medical history. Killing sets off a switch inside of her. There is no anger, no sadness, no joy or resentment. There is nothing. The act of murder is what makes her numb. I hate seeing in such a state. Her smile is so much more beautiful. It lights up a room and she doesn't even know it. It has been exactly ten years since I saw he genuinely smile without a bit of fake in it. "Leave it alone, Takahiro. I made up my mind and that's that. Now, get out. I'll be down later for dinner."

Before I can say another word, Levi comes in with his phone held out. He brushes past me to approach Saichi himself. "Dimitrius has something for you." She snatches the phone and walks into a corner. They speak for a few minutes. It starts off angry but she calms down to listen for most of the call. Once she hangs up, she takes her time turning around. "What was it?"

"He knows the clan that is after me."

Levi Ackerman

"White Fangs. The one clan that hates the Yamazaki family the most." Lance sits back on his couch, drinking his tea. Saichi hates having to visit him but this is critical. Now that we know it's the White Fangs that are behind the bounty, we have to track them down and stop them before they actually get their wish of having her dead. "I've never met the leader personally but I know he's relentless. Whatever he wants, he doesn't stop until he gets it."

Saichi grits her teeth. "I need a name, not a backstory."

"That's the thing, I don't know his name. No one does. He hides behind his second in command, some ass with the last name Lovof. His first name is Nicholas, I believe. I hate that guy. He cheats at poker."

Lovof. Not him, right? Based on the color draining from Saichi's face, she knows as well. Nicholas Lovof is reborn with us and still someone who can make our life hell if he wanted. I guess fate has been on his side once again. I would love to slice that pig's throat personally. We're sitting in silence for a while until Saichi's mother comes in with a tray of snacks. She's a petite woman with dark brown hair and hazel eyes. Age has yet to set in on her face so she still looks angelic in her own way. She sets the tray down and sits next to Lance.

Looking at the two together, I can never understand how they made someone as beautiful as Saichi. She has none of their features, not that it matters. Lance and Haruka Yamazaki had their daughter right when they became legal adults. Lance had just become the head of his family and Haruka was nothing but a fling to him. But, as traditions go, he had to marry her. He didn't and still doesn't love her as his wife so he is everything but faithful. Haruka is so naive, she stays with him. As he asked her years ago, she became one of the clan's prostitutes.

Saichi has never been close to her parents. She has told me herself that her father is nothing but a sperm donor and her mom was a temporary incubator for nine months. Takahiro clears his throat. "So, what does this mean, Saichi? Are you going after Lovof?"

She stands up, brushing off her clothes. "Of course. It won't be hard to find him. And I won't need a short dress and heels this time, thankfully."

She starts toward the door when her father decides to say, "Can you at least acknowledge your mother? She hasn't seen you in months."

She doesn't even waste her time to look at him. She holds up her middle and replies, "Eat me."
