Saichi Yamazaki

SDA. They are nothing but assholes in lab coats that spend their time researching werecats and many others like us. I have to discover that werecats aren't the only shapeshifters in this world. They are others that can turn into animals like dogs or small animals such as gerbils or even birds in some rare cases. This lab is dedicated to containing those that are out of control or need science help to control their abilities.

Sadly, Maki and Takahiro can't enter the building without collars. They would have made me wear one as well but I refused. They persisted but I twisted the guard's wrist and made my point very clear. After being searched at the entrance, we wait until Hange comes for us. He is accompanied by Eld. When he sees me and Levi, he runs over and salutes as if we're still in the military days. "Captains! I... I'm so happy to see you again." So he has his memories. That's good but bad in other ways. "I've searched years for you since I could remember everything."

I exchange soft looks with Levi and pat Eld on his shoulder. "Come on, Eld. This is a new time. You can use our names."

"I couldn't possibly do that. You will always be my captain." So stubborn. I guess I can blame Levi and myself for that. Last time Eld called me by my name, I kicked him in the jaw, cracking a tooth. Our training is always too effective at times. "And from what I hear, you became commander."

"You work here, Eld?" Levi asks.

"Oh, yes. I'm the head surgeon at the werecat ward. What about the two of you? What are you doing in this life?"

Levi shrugs his shoulders. "Yakuza business. I'm sure Hange mentioned it."

"He did."

Hange clears his throat. "Come on, we can catch up later. Eld, they're here about Aki."

"Oh! Alright, come on." They lead us down a long white hallway, passing a lot of tightly secured doors. This place has high security. Aki is much safer here. Maki has yet to understand that but he will soon. "Aki is probably one of the most interesting cases I've ever received. His body malfunctions are great but the fact that he still continues on like there is nothing wrong with him amazes me. I had no idea his medical record was so...extensive."

I can hear Maki growling from behind me. He's not happy about this. I had no choice but to call them in. I never thought Aki would ever attack another human being. The evil in his eyes worried me and I knew I couldn't help him anymore. There is nothing left for me to do. I had to hand him over to actual professionals. If it needs to happen, this is where Aki will stay for a while so he can receive the treatment he needs.

We go through double doors at the end of the hall and enter the biggest lab room I've seen in my entire life. There are rows of computers while there is a huge room on the other side that is separated by glass. People in lab coats are hurrying around, typing and scribbling away. In the glass room is Aki still asleep in his panther form. He is no longer chained up but I was told he had to wear his collar and the muzzle.

Eld approaches the glasses with us while Hange goes to the front computer. I feel so bad for Aki being put in a situation like this but I can't overlook his violent actions. I already have to face some issues with the kid he bit and the school. It is a headache I will hold off for later. Maki presses his hand to the glasses but it immediately shocked and brought to his knees. "Sorry about that," Eld says. "We program those collars to go off when a subject gets close to the glass like this."

"That's so stupid!"

It ends up shocking him again. "It also shocks you if your vitals show you getting too angry. You could transform or attack the staff. We don't want to risk anything." I roll my eyes and tap the glass with my finger. It seems strong, better than bulletproof. "So, we're going to run a few more tests but I'm pretty aware of our situation. With the right work, we can return Aki to what he was."

"Do you know who did this?" I ask.

"No. The security footage has a clear image but the person was careful to not show their face as they walked through the building."

Hmm. I might have an idea as to who did this. No one at Hange's lab would even think to corrupt Aki in any way. Once night falls, I go into my office alone and call the number Dimitrius gave me. He was able to find Nicholas Lovof within a day, as I expected. I put off on calling him because I wanted to take a little time to focus on my life that doesn't involve the yakuza. Now, things are starting to mash together and I can't allow it to go further.

The phone rings a few times before someone picks up. They don't say anything at first. I hear nothing but heavy breathing. Fat bastard. "Lovof," I say.

The man chuckles devilishly. "Now, is that any way to greet an old friend of yours?"

"I have very little friends and you're damn sure not one of them."

"I must be a lucky man to have the honor of speaking with the one and only daughter of Lance Yamazaki. To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"You know exactly why we are speaking to each other at this very moment. You decided to take it upon yourself and put many innocent lives at risk. You have a death wish and I'll be more than happy to grant it. Not only that, you're the one who put a price on my life."

"I believe you have the wrong man, Ms. Saichi. I didn't put that bounty on you. I wouldn't go for such low hanging fruit."

"I will not allow your actions toward Aki to go unnoticed."

"Aki Yamazaki, correct? Ah, yes. I was always taught that the only way to create something truly evil, it has to start with being the purest. Fate is a bitch, isn't it?"

I clench my fist in aggravation. "He has a family, a life without this crap."

"Don't we all?"

"You-"

"I especially enjoy your family, Saichi. Two men who are dedicated to their job as well as your heart and the safety of Eren and the two failed experiments. Then you have the innocent Eren and Yuri. They have the smile that brightens anyone's day and not an ounce of a killer in their bodies. You hold them close and do everything you can to keep them away from people like me."

"You stay away from them."

"No promises."

I grit my teeth but take a deep breath. My plan to be civil is now out the window. I'm out for blood and that's exactly what I'm going to get until I'm satisfied. "We meet at the docks, unarmed and alone. We're going to settle this for good."

"Come on, we both know the exact opposite will happen."

"Of course. I don't trust scum like you and you're a coward."

"Set a time."

"Saturday, at night."

"Are you prepared to say goodbye to your family?"

"Trust me, I won't have to." I end the call and clench my phone in my hands. "I'm so fucked."
