"Third surgery of the day and it's only one in the afternoon."

Nanabe and Mike stand with me by the front desk. They've been assisting me pretty much all day. I don't think I could handle the stress without their support. This is my second day straight I've been at the hospital and I've been doing operations nonstop. Sadly, not all of them were a success. As a doctor, my hands sometimes become heavy with the burden of not being able to save everyone even though I have the want to.

Mike hands me a bottle of cold water. "I know you haven't eaten much but the least you can do is stay hydrated." I take a couple sips before I set the bottle down. I stuff my hands in my lab coat pockets and glance around. I feel bad for leaving Eren with Levi. I know children aren't really his thing. Aki is admitted in the lab with Hange and Maki doesn't know the first thing about being fatherly. As for Takahiro, I still don't know what to say to him. My trust for him is slowly fading the more I think about his lies. "So, I heard from Levi that you've found Eren. How is he?"

"A three-year-old brat that was left to die," I reply. "I plan to shop for a new home."

My apartment is no longer big enough for everyone. Me, Takahiro, Levi, Aki, Maki, and Eren. I don't want to move but buying a home wouldn't be so bad, I guess. My father recommended I move into a noble home. I wanted to tell him to screw off but he was on to something. I've risen high enough in the social ladder that a noble home wouldn't be out of the ordinary. I could get special security and protect anyone inside, especially with some random guy putting a hit out on me.

Erwin comes around the corner with Moblit, another medical assistant. He entertains the pediatric department a lot with his artistic talent. He's just like he was in the past. He's very to himself and quiet but stands up for those in trouble. "Saichi, how did the Louis operation go?" Moblit asks me with a smile.

Louis was an American man with cancer that came all the way here to have me do his surgery. I was able to remove the tumor but now there is only hope for what happens from here. I yawn then nod. "Just fine. He woke about an hour ago, I think. Poor man. Made such a stupid decision to come all the way to Japan. Anything could have happened during his travel. He's lucky he got here in time."

"Well, you do have the miracle surgeon hands."

We stand around talking for a while until Hange comes through the door, dressed in actual casual clothing. I'm guessing it's his day off. "Hange, what are you doing here?" Nanabe speaks.

"Weren't you given a couple of days off?" Mike adds.

He laughs and scratches the back of his neck. "Of course! I'm actually here because I wanted to talk to Saichi. I hope she isn't too busy."

I check the clock. I have an operation in pediatrics at two. "Sure, come on."

We go outside to the lounge area. Most people come out here to eat or relax when their friends or relatives are in a long operation. He stands next to me without a smile. This must be important. "How is he?"

I assume he means Levi. "As I swore, I keep a close eye on him every second we're together. He sleeps better and he eats more. He does still toss and turns from the nightmares but his state improved since he was here last. I'll give him back to No Name soon." I sigh. "I doubt that was why you brought me out here. What is it?"

"It's about Aki."

"How is he?"

"His hernia ruptured. You brought him in time. He's recovering as we speak." I thought as much. He was complaining about a lot of pain and wasn't eating as much as he usually would. I'm glad he's safe. "I took the opportunity to look over Maki. He seems healthy for now."
