Ashton has one hand on my neck, pulling my face closer to his, while the other one holds my waist, connecting our bodies. At first, my instinct was to push him away, startled. But he didn't let me go and as soon as he started moving his lips against mine, I slowly lost control of myself, giving in and kissing him back. My hands, that were in his chest, slipped to his wet hair, running my fingers through it, and to his back, pulling him even closer. His lips taste good in my tongue, which plays in sync with his. I can feel his heart beating fast against my chest and I wonder if he can feel mine as well.

Though the kiss started in an almost rough way, Ashton pulled away slowly, without disconnecting our lips completely. We remain quiet for a while and I can feel his uneven breath near my mouth. I guess we're both too scared to look in each other's eyes after what happened.

"I think..." Ashton whispers with a raspy voice, caressing my cheek, his eyes still closed "I think we should go now".

Probably if it was a different situation I'd just want to talk about it and fix things, but not at that situation. I was too confused and in shock, so I just nod slowly. He pulls away awkwardly, avoiding my gaze and running his hand through his hair.

“You drive?” He says, not waiting for my answer and just heading to car already. I don’t mind staying in the rain a little longer, trying to process things. I just kissed Ashton. I just kissed my best friend. Well, technically he was the one that kissed me but I went with it. To be honest, though it’s kinda weird, it didn’t feel wrong, that’s probably what surprises me the most.

I don’t say anything when I get in the car, and I don’t mind about my soaked clothes either. Ashton doesn’t even look at me, apparently he’s too busy playing nervously with his fingers. The ride back to my place seemed way longer than before, and I almost got the wrong way once or twice.

When I park the car in my building’s parking lot, none of us comes out and a horrible silence takes over.

“Why did you do it?” I ask, without looking at him.

He takes a while to answer me “I drank too much, forget it” Ashton gets out and I follow him “I’ll just go home”

“No, you won’t. Not like this”

“It’s not a big deal” He doesn’t even look back, heading straight to the gate.

“Can you at least look at me?” I raise my voice, what makes him stop walking and turn around.

“I’m just not feeling very well, okay?”

“I know, anyone can see that… Spend the night here, alright? It’s better if you don’t walk on your own like this at this time”

He sighs “Yeah, fine”

I grab a towel in my closet and hand it to Ashton, that’s sitting on the couch. I’m freezing because of the wet clothes and apparently none of us feels like saying anything, so I just sit on the couch next to him, drying my hair.

“Sorry for being rude to you back at the club” He murmurs at some point.

“I was just talking to the guy”

“I know, and you had every right”

I finally turn to face him “We can’t pretend nothing happened, you know that”

He lets out a low laugh and I can see him blushing slightly, but he doesn’t look away “You’re probably right”.

We both know that’s the kiss we’re talking about, I better just go straight to my point “So, why did you do it?” I ask again.
